After playing diablo 2 LOD on and off for what seems like eternity, I have finally ventured into the realms of hardcore. Like many others, I got tired of the monotony and ease of SC battle net playing. After reading 40 pages of superdave's hardcore single player with no gear challenge, I'm excited today to declare that I have started a single player hardcore /players 8 fishymancer. To me, this is almost as hardcore as it gets.

Today I made it to about level 13, and I happened to find a unique buckler. I would put the picture in here but i'm not sure how. Anyway, wish me luck on this seemingly impossible endeavor.

Hey Clown, and welcome!

I always like to see new people joining the HC force. I've been playing HC myself for a long time, I gave up on the realms 6 or 7 months ago and just play SP now.

I also started my SP carrier with a necro, they are great for safety and reliability. He should sail through Norm and NM on /p 8 as long as you don't run too far ahead of your army and get "caught with your pants down," so to speak.

The sad part is that by the time you get to Hell you will be relying a lot on CE to kill stuff or you, and the damage it does doesn't scale up with the /p setting even though monsters hitpoints do, so you might notice a sever slowdown in your progress when you reach Hell. I'm not saying it's impossible because it certainly isn't, but you should be prepared for a lot slower killing, or even lowering the /p setting at some point.

I assume you have ATMA?

Edit: P.s. My one piece of advice for you is to start a second character now, and try to keep him/her fairly close behind your necro at least until mid to late NM so that if your necro dies you don't have to start completely back from scratch. I can't stress this enough. It will help your moral like you wont believe.

Great advice. I'll start another character tonight when I can log on. We'll see how things go once I hit hell....I'd really like to keep it at /players 8....and yes I do have ATMA.

I'll keep everyone updated as I go.

Hey guys, I managed to clear act 1 today without much of a problem, and I found another uniuqe! Pretty incredible considering I have no MF whatsoever. Anyway, so far it\'s been smooth sailing, we\'ll see how act 2 treats me though. I had no idea that these skeletons did so much dmg.
