    Hell Viable Build?

There are a lot of variations of Assassin builds compared to others, and after reading some guides I've gotten to the point where I'm totally confused and got no idea what I'm doing. This is my plan for an assassin, so could you experts tell me if I'll be able to solo 8 player hell games with this character, and if not, what I should change?

    Skills:
    20 Tiger Strike
    20 Phoenix Strike
    20 Dragon Tail
    20 Shadow Master
    6-8 Fade
    6-8 Weapon Block
    6-8 Claw Mastery
    1 Cobra Strike
    + Prerequisites

    Gear:
    Dual Upped Bartucs
    Fortitude
    Verdungos
    Steelrend
    Shadowdancers or Goreriders
    Highlord's
    Dual Raven Frost

Don't know what to wear for helm yet, any suggestions?

You need to have a plan. Ask yourself what you want, and plan a character from there.

I see you don't use Cloak of Shadow or Death Sentry or Mind Blast, which are very nice skills for an assassin. Instead you focus on pure damage (fortitude, steelrends, and phoenix strike for elemental damage), and end up with less CB, OW and DS. Dragon tail is a good choice for this build I think, as the knock back will save your life. The damage from the explosive kick is not bad either, except versus fire immunes I believe.

Look for items with % chance to deadly strike to increase your damage further is my advice. And try to get enough IAS for fastest chargeup, as you will do alot of chargeup with this build.

I see. Do you know any good builds? I want to make a martial artist.

I'm new with assassins, as I rarely play them, and the one time I did I made a trapper which failed early on lol.

    Re: Hell Viable Build?

I made an Excel sheet for myself, so I can just sort out what I want from this sheet.

You may want Life Leech (LL), Mana Leech (ML), Faster Hit Recovery (FHR), Increased Attack Speed (IAS), Open Wounds (OW), Crushing Blow (CB), Enhanced Damage (EDamage), Deadly Strike (DS), Sockets, and Damage Reduction % (DR). This is what came up:

    Weapons
    Bartuc's Cut-Throat (FHR, skills, LL) (-30 WSM)
Jade Talon (FHR, skills, ML, Resist, skills) (-10 WSM)
    Firelizard's Talons (15 IAS, skills) (-20 WSM)
Natalya's Mark (40 IAS, Ignore Target Defense !!, Enhanced Demon+Undead Damage) (0 WSM)

    Armors:
    Twitchthroe (IAS, FHR)
    Boneflesh (OW, LL)
    Rattlecage (CB)
    Crow Caw (OW, IAS, FHR)
    Shaftstop (30% DR)
    Toothrow (40% OW)
    The Gladiator's Bane (FHR, DR)
    Leviathan (DR, skills, +life)

    Helms:
Guillaume's Face (DS, CB, FHR) !
    Demonhorn's Edge (LL, IAS)
    Biggin's Bonnet (30% Enhanced Damage)
    Rockstopper (FHR, DR)
    Stealskull (LL, ML, FHR)
Crown of Thieves (LL, +Life, +Dex)
    Vampire Gaze (LL, ML, DR)
    Andariel's Visage (LL, IAS)
Crown of Ages (FHR, DR, 2 sockets max)
Giant Skull (CB, Knockback, 2 sox max)

    Amulets:
    The Eye of Etlich (LL)
    The Cat's Eye (IAS)
    Crescent Moon (LL, ML)
    Highlord's Wrath (IAS)

    Gloves:
    Magnus' Skin (IAS)
Laying of Hands (IAS, 350% EDamage vs Demons!)
    Bloodfist (IAS, FHR)
Frostburn (5% Edamage, 40% extra mana!)
    Venom Grip (LL, CB)
    Lava Gout (IAS)
    Dracul's Grasp (LL, OW)
    Soul Drainer (LL, ML)
    Steelrend (60% max EDamage, CB)

    Boots:
    Goblin Toe (25% CB!)
    Gore Rider (15% CB, 15% DS, 10% OW) !

    Rings:
    Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band (LL, skill)
    Carrion Wind (LL, CTC Twister)

    Belts:
    Wilhelm's Pride (LL, ML)
    Goldwrap (IAS)

    Re: Hell Viable Build?

    Sweet, thanks.

I have tinkered with my plan a little, and now it's like this:

    20 Tiger Strike
    20 Dragon Tail
    20 Shadow Master
    20 Weapon Block
    some in Claw Mastery
    some in Fade
    some in Mind Blast
    + Prereqs

    Items:
    Fury Scissor Suwayyah
    Bartucs (with Ber rune)
    Fortitude
Crafted Gloves (w/ IAS and CB)
    Upped Goreriders
    Raven Frost
    Bul Kathos
    Highlords

Still stuck for the Helm. Thinking a 3os helm w/ two 40/15s and a 40/resist jewel

    Re: Hell Viable Build?

I think that Guillaume's Face (DS, CB, FHR) is excellent for melee builds.
With Fury + Guillaume's Face + Goreriders + highlords, you'll have almost maxed Deadly Strike (double damage). Open wounds is very high as well from your Fury. And the 50 CB comes from GFace and Griders as well. The enhanced damage from fortitude and Claw Mastery will allow you to deal alot of damage as well. Around level 17-18 Claw Mastery, you can add 100% enhanced damage to your claws. One thing to note is that CB or LL doesn't transfer from the Bartuc's (secondary claw) to your Fury which is a shame.

A problem with your equipment is that you hardly have any resistance. Everything will have to come from fade which you don't even want to invest points in. Although if you do invest points in fade, you'll have about 65-70 resist around level 20. Also, 30 points invested in fade will only give you 30% physical damage reduction. Personally I want more resistance, both from physical and elemental attacks, since you have -100 resistance in hell (-70 with Anya quests). Clawblock will block elemental damage, which is nice, but the assassin goes into an animation once she does, and will be receptive to other elemental damages, so you still need more resistance IMO.

Also, maxed weapon block is not needed. After a while, the block increase is so bad that it's not worth the extra points spent.

If you can get hold of a 3 sox claw with death sentry and mindblast, you can make your Fury in this one. This would be perfect, since you don't have to invest points in these skills or their prereq then. One point in mindblast, death sentry and cloak of shadow is enough IMO for your build, at least in PvM.

It's tricky to optimize for best result. I've forgot pretty much everything since last time I played, so I have to re-learn everything.

Thanks Indecisive. You have been a big help. I'll continue to tinker with my plan until I find a good balance between everything.

    Re: Hell Viable Build?

So if I socket Bartucs w/ a Ber (20 CB), would that be useless?

Also, which claw should go on which hand?

    Re: Hell Viable Build?

DS and OW is not transfered from the secondary claw, therefore I suggest Fury as a primary claw.
