    Having problems with a virus....

Okay...so I think Vlad sent me a virus accidently through MSN. Now everytime I start my computer or start my MSN it will send a link to everyone who is online. My Norton can't detect it and neither will my other virus protection program. I can't seem to find the infected file anywhere. Does anyone else have this virus or know anything about it? It basically sends a link to online people on your MSN asking if this a picture of you. Somebody puleeze help me. My friends are getting all mad at me.

Pretty sure the link rests in your registry, and you have to find it and delete it. I'm NOT 100% sure. Try Google, since it's a rather common problem, I'm sure you can find the solution on it easy.

A trend micro scan may help, I've used them when I have virii troubles that norton won't pick it up.

Back in the day, just about anything you'd get from extra-curricular activities could be cured by a hefty dose of penicillin...

...not that kind of virus you say?

Okay I tried the fix and it said that it wasn't detected. My new anti-virus found it but couldn't delete it. Just renamed it and that's it. I still don't know what it is.

    Could it be this virus?

EDIT - the problem could be this - if you're unfortunate enough to be running Windoze, and use XP (eXtra Proprietary), then the virus can hide in the System Restore files. I don't know how that works exactly, but I have encountered the problem more than once (the Korgo virus).

If it hides in the system restore files,it can be deleted by disabling the sytem restore files and then enabling,I erased some virii like that.

The little virus thing went around my town for awhile. I got lucky with the thing and it hid its self in my music file instead of somewhere else and I just deleted it.

Heard about it/almost victim to it. Basically it sends a message like, "ull like this" and then a link that is pretty unrealistic for someone to have like "www.picture/[email protected]/index.html". Dunno how to treat it. Luckily it wasn't someone close to me who had it, and so I was cautious accepting it.

EDIT: My solution: save all your porno/naked pics and reformat :p

Sorry to hijack this thread abit, but while we're on the subject, anyone knows how to get rid of the WINSS virus?

Neither Norton, nor Adware, nor Spyware will get rid of this damn thing.

You tried sending me a link in AIM the other day as well :p

Anyway, my sister had this virus, and what you have to do is, since your one AV detected it but couldnt delete, start your computer in safe mode (press F8 when the computer is booting up, then choose "Start in Safe Mode") and then run the scan and that should allow it to delete the files...

That virus is a pain in the *** because it is made to hit "Cancel" or close every window that pops up after a certain amount of time. So, try starting in safe mode and running a scan to delete it. Otherwise, I know AVG Antivirus worked and got rid of the virus my sister had. You can get that one from grisoft.com and its free.

depending on how long you've had the virus you could just do a system restore. I find that to be very useful. If you haven't really done anything important or have any big important saved files since you got this virus then just system restore it to a restore point before you got the virus. Save all of ur small files that you've created/changed onto a flash drive or a cd or something.
