Have I ever mentioned I HATE DURIEL...

I never am sure what quite to do about this boss whenever Im running non tank Charachters. Currently Im running an MA Zon, who runs over everything on /p1 but when the encouter with Duriel comes, my Merc, My Decoy and myself all end up pounded in the ground by those )(*)&(*8 pincers.

Any suggestions and how to tame that beast properly...

im assuming this is on norm (other levels you should have valk)

I recommend picking up a big hurty stick and tanking him yourself - put on a couple of cathans rings and see what happens - that is usually what I end up doing :)

Hmm, if you can, try to get some IAS (Bloodfist, Twitchthroe) and make Zephyr hunters bow. On switch you can use hunter bow socketed with 3 P emeralds. First shoot Duriel with poison bow, then switch to Zephyr and when the poison wears out use poison bow again. Use 2 Cathan's Seals for leech and p1 of course. Use Decoy if you can. Maybe Manald Heal would be good too, for mana leech (Decoy) and +life it gives

Also how high lvl your zon is? Do some p8 runs in Arcane Sanctuary and Canyon if you get exp there

edit: ow, was this normal or not? :p

You also might want to try leveling up for a valkyrie or getting your mercenary better. If you are in normal, it might be problematic getting the valkyrie. :(

lol walkirie in normal will be hard to have of course, but you don't really need it.

Personnaly I don't agree with cathan , I think it will be better to use potion and go back to town when you are out of potion. you can have other mod to use with ring with duriel (and all other big difficult end boss)

swich 2 bows is an excellent idea. cold damage in normal will help also.

Duriel is a pain in normal but after that I haven't found him too bad on non-tank characters - you normally have enough Life and equipment to stay alive long enough to toast him.

The only advice I can give is to get a merc and load the best equipment possible on him, spawn a town portal the moment you enter his chamber (in fact, keep the scrolls on your belt) and get as much cold resist and anti-freeze as you can. Teleport equipment, if you have it, is fantastic here too.

you want a high phys dmg bow, as MA power depends on a good bow. so look for a bow with high dmg, IAS or crushing blow. any of these will help alot. and if you have Ma on your left mouse button and your decoy on yourright button, then whenver he dies, you can recast him without wasting time. and stand behind your decoy so duriel doesnt go for you.

Thawing potions. They won't stop you being frozen, but they will give you +50% cold resist and +10% max cold resist for 30 seconds.

Not much, but it's one way to help keep the damage down.

I only hate Duriel on the Realms since by the time that the area has loaded Duriel will already have ripped be to shreds.

None of these problems in Single Player though.

Hey, hey! Let's not be too hasty!

Duriel (Nightmare) dropped me my beloved Oculus in 1.09. And what Atma says the chances for that are extremely low.
About 0.0008% with 75% MF.
So I guess Duriel is one of my many best friends

PS. Now my beloved Oculus has changed it's owner *sniff* hope Tiger_Spirit holds it well.

On my MA 'Zon the toughest boss was Normal Duriel. I couldn't even get him to go after my Decoy. It took me a while to kill him, but all I did was run, shoot a couple times, run some more... I think, if you are following my guide, that is about all you can do. It'll take some time, but he will, eventually, fall.

Thawing potions are a good idea. As is some form of poison damage, from charms or bows, so you will be damaging him as you run away.

i didn't have too much trouble with my bowazon.

but then again i was quite high lvl, i think i was 26 but it's quite easy if u run canyon of the magi on players 8.

For Duriel I always use a weapon and shield with my bowazons... so I'm a coward :p With your high dex you'd have nice blocking. Killing him will take a LONG time this way but it's safer. CB is highly recommended
