Have I Been Hacked????

Sorry for the really noob question but i think that i have been hacked and i think that you are the only place that can help me.

I was talking to a paladin today about joining a clan and he said that i had to tell him what my account ranking was. He told me to type "/dnd rank username password" now i cant get back on to my account. Have i been hacked and if not how do i get access to my account again.

Sorry for being such a noob about it but i just didn't know that he could recieve my password that way.

You have been hacked.

What the command "/dnd" does is set you in "Do not disturb" mode. When the other player does a "/whois" on your character, whatever you typed after /dnd appears as a message to him, saying that you are in DND mode for a certain reason (what you typed). Therefore, he saw your account and password.

HOWEVER! There may be a way to get your account back. Did you register with your email address when you created the account? If so, you can go to sccount settings and say you forgot your password, which then tells Blizzard to email you with the current password.

yup i registered but he is already taking my stuff off the account

i have sent the email to blizzard but it is taking ages to get a response

is there anything else i can do?

Sent an email to Blizzard? I'm not sure you did the right thing because I have never done it myself but just to be sure, this is what you do:

1- D2 main window
2- Click "Battle.Net"
3- Click "Account Settings"
4- Click "Get new password"
5- Enter account and registered email

If I assumed correctly, an email should be immediately sent to you with the current password.

Thanks for your help mate i did all that and they sent me a new password but i still cant get in.

It shows a waiting screen on the login screen

Sorry then, I can't help you. I have no idea what that means. I would suggest for you to re-connect your internet and re-load D2 and see if that helps.

every time i request the password now it gives me a different one. Is that normal or is there something else going on that im not aware of

Your thief could be smart and changing your password constantly to avoid you regaining your account. Try to get on and change your password quickly...

I have managed to get back into the account. all the good stuff is gone obviously but at least i have it back. could you tell me how to change the password from inside the account?

From the same "Account settings" menu there should be a "change password" option, use that.

Thanks for all the help. God I was stupid not to check what the command did. Silly noob thing to do. His name is sledge_fist by the way so anyone who meets or deals with him watch out.

thanks for your help though mate i would have been really stressed otherwise and wouldn't have got the account back at all.

Once you send the reset password to Blizz. ( only if you initially registered your eail with them ), they will reset a randomized password ( 9-10 characters long ) to the account and send the new password to the email that the account has been registered with.

Only the person that can access to the email can access the account.

When people try to get me with that dnd scam I like to type my account and a password that isn't my real one. Probably wastes a few minutes of their time trying to log on.
