    Has anyone tried Vista Pre-RC1?

Recently, Microsoft released the pre rc1 version of Windows Vista for public download until it reached 100k dls (it's closed now). I didn't download it because I dont have a good graphics card or a dvd burner.

    screenshots here: http://pcexposure.com/2006/08/29/windows-vista-pre-rc1-screenshots/

So has anyone tried it or can tell me what you think? I'm planning on buying a new laptop next year but I'm kinda pissed at the system requirements for windows vista (40 gigs hdd and 1 gig ram). So i'm kinda leaning towards a Mac OSX.5 next year since bootcamp could install windows xp (and vista!)

I'm hoping that the macbook pro will increase the harddrive space sometime soon. I just wanna try an insane setup: OSX.5, Windows XP, Windows Vista (just temporarily to see what its like), and Ubuntu (just for XGL)

All the reviews I've read are very mixed about vista. It seems it's just XP with a facelift.

One more reason to think about installing Linux, IMO.

From everything I've played around with there is no real need to upgrade for the average user. There really aren't that many reasons for businesses to upgrade either. People will upgrade as they buy new computers though, so eventually it will be mainstream.

Feature wise I see nothing Linux/OS X doesn't do for less hardware strain and nothing that makes me think it will change how I use a computer.

I wish it had a better copy of Expose from the Mac.

It seems the one Vista uses looks better, but from what I've read, its functionality kinda blows.

I love it. My problem is that I make it harder than it is. I can't even begin to tell you how much faster a system runs. You don't have 68 processes running at a time. There is a learning curve..I am still curving :). It is like night and day for OS.

If you like to learn new things..this is for you. If you are happy with the status quo..stick with windows.

I will never go back to windows.

Cool... I need to do a system restore on my laptop - cause it's running slower than molasses (spelling?!?! :) ).

I'm thinking I might just partition off half my harddrive and run Ubuntu for a while to see how it goes. Worst case scenario, I just do another system restore and install Winblows again.

    Which distribution are you running?
