I'm going untwinked and I'm wondering if I should go 115 str/115 dex base?

.. and where do I vendor claws? anya?


what i got so far @lvl 65:

75 str
75 dex
230 vita

1 point in all the skills in the shadow tree except for venom
20 LS
20 CBS
15 SW
1 DS
1 FB

right now, i'm basically wearing junk vendored gear. my best item on her would have to be a lore coronet :X. i do not intend on finding anything great.


i'm looking for any advice

Yes, shop at anya in NM or Hell. I wouldn't pump your dex to 115 though. NM anya sells Blade Talons and Scissors Katars and their exceptional version which have considerably less requirements. The chances of finding a good trap claw or shopping anything better than a +3 trap or +2 assa blade talon are almost 0 (IMO not worth the effort, count on days of shopping time for that).

For an untwinked trapper I find this a little unfortunate. FB (another element for Hell) and DS (CE range, your main killer) are much more useful than maxing CBS and SW skills. But there is little you can do about that now I guess.

I would go with the lowest stre and dex to use gear. Are you C/C or C/S?

If you are going C/C then you really dont need high str for spirit, so you might hardly even need 75/75.

As you know, the more life, the better ~

Anya in NM or Hell is the best place to look for claws .

Maybe I missed it, but why are you "c/c of course...."?

You can do claw/spirit shield if you wanted - but for the stre, if it is a budget build, it probably isn't worth it.

For a budget build, you wont have vita charms, you wont have a bunch of +life items, so you need to have your vita as high as possible. By leaving str/dex low, you can pump more vita and increase the chances of living .

Nope, the chances for that to happen are too small.

I would go 79/79 for Greater Talons. And if you happen to find bartucs I would use those over +3 trap claw for a hardcore trapper.

Have you thought about what you are going to do about lightning immunes? I would recommend starting to pump fireblast.

You could possibly try blade fury (1 point in it) to deal with immunes. Although it targets only one monster at a time, it'll help you get a corpse. And that would give you a lot of flexibility since you could use a crushing blow weapon with BF against bosses and a high elemental weapon against lightning immunes.

I've never tried BF on a trapper, but it should work.

i got her to 73 or so and all i can say it.. WOW.

She worked so well with the most garbage gear!

I was soloing hell, and I got stuck on the maggot lair, so I decided to make a pub for help. Some guy came in and helped with me act 2. So while he was at it, i wondered if he could help with trav. He made a tp, i went in, BAM dead.


I'm rebuilding soon though!



I could take care of the lightning immunes easily aslong as there were other monsters around I could kill. I was worrying about it before too, but I didn't know how death sentry worked, and now I do.


She died with a claw though, which I'm really mad about. I don't know if it's "good" or not, so you tell me.

That is a nice claw, quite nice to me in fact. 4 to LS, and 3 to SM is quite good, even saves you a skill point in SM, even though I always just use SW. And you could IAS Jewel/Shael it for faster trap laying speed.

For skill point I would recommend maxing in the following order -

LS
DS
FB
CBS
rest in Shockweb

I went

80 Str
80 Dex
Rest Vita

On my HC trapper, she now does ~4.1k Max LS, a 2kish Max FB, is level **, has max res without fade, max trap laying speed with BoS, and about 1.5k life depending on which armor i use on her.

Just remember MB is your friend, you would do well to convert/stun a few monsters of the more dangerous packs. I use mine to run Nihlathak (works like a charm btw) and sometimes on the way i can run by nasty packs, a MB or 3 converts at least one of them, therefor taking the heat off of me. CoS helps to, but not always.

She is also one of the best Baaling characters I have, I use her to clear, then bring in a Baal Glitcher, works quite nice.
