Handicap Parking Spots

Handicap Parking Spots

I've been noticing this alot more often lately that non-handicapped people use these spaces.

I'm not just talking no sticker, I'm talking they have a sticker and flat out there is nothing even remotely wrong with them. These people piss me off.

Something that pisses me off more though, fat people with stickers. Why the hell does someone get a sticker for being morbidly obese? If my fat arse can make the trip from the back of the parking lot to the store then so can their's. I hold the opinion fat people should be given tickets that force them to park in the back of the parking lot at a designated area furthest from the entrance, maybe that would help.

While I'm on the subject of fat people pissing me off, why do most of them complain about being fat instead of doing something about it?

I work at a grocery store and I see all kinds of people, but today I just got flat pissed off about this stuff. A probably 400 or 500 pound guy walks up and asks where the salad stuff was and I was thinking awesome this guy is finally doing something right. Then he remarks my wife usually shops and she loves this salad stuff, I don't usually eat it. At which point I'm thinking no crap Sherlock.

I take him to the produce section show him where everything is and then he tries to squeeze in between these two tables and knocks them both over. He then complains to me that it is somehow my fault or the store's fault he couldn't fit. I said in a more polite manner than said here that he obviously couldn't fit and he replied "Yeah, it sucks being big you know what I mean?" Trying not to be an arse and maybe lose my crappy job I just agree and start picking the stuff up he knocked over as he walked away without apologizing. I then see him leaving and he has 1 bag of 'salad stuff' for his wife and then probably 6 gallons of Ice Cream, several bags of cookies, and tons of candy.

5 minutes later I walk out into the parking lot to get the shopping carts and he is in the Handicap space.

There are heart and lung conditions that also merit a handicapped permit, and these aren't visible. Unless you're using your X-ray vision, in which case what the hell are you doing hanging around parking lots populated by fat people, you fool. Get to a campus full of coeds fast!

yeah, i was just gonna say, some people have internal conditions.
My mom had a blood clot in her leg, and for 6 months she got a handicap sticker. Why? Because she couldnt walk a long distance, or else her leg would not do too well.

but that aside, i do agree.
1 of my friends at school drives her grandmas car sometimes, and parks in the handicap spot occasionaly, because there is a handicap plate.

I would like to say I agree with you 100%. 99.9% of the time people are fat because they eat too much and don't move around at all. You shouldn't get special treatment for something you can change on your own, esp when that something is your health.

The spaces for handicapped people or "Mothers to be"(How do they know they aren't already mothers?) I think should be there. However I am not sure all handicapped people should get the thing that hangs from your mirror or get the symbol on your plates. If you can't move from the waist down and are confined to a wheelchair you can still get around just fine. In cases like that I don't really see the point, I have seen guys in wheelchairs beat healthy athletes in races. I can be lenient if the person is elderly and can't move very fast, but in that case they usually have a powered chair. If you just had knee surgery and can't walk very well, then yes I see you needing a closer space.

I don't however think you should ever get a space for being fat. That is like rewarding someone when they stab themselves. I thank fat people for one thing and one thing only, making the seats at the movie theater bigger so A) I don't have to have their flub touching me and B) So I can cuddle with the SO in one seat.

Have fun getting out of your car in a wheelchair when the car next to you is lests than a foot away.

Last I checked there are handicapped spaces on both sides of the line, so at least half of them would have a car on the drivers side door. Technically only the one at the end of the row on the left side(if one was facing the store) of the line would be guaranteed the extra room.

I'm engaged in a crusade to counter the efforts of the faux-handicapped by parking in the handicapped spots without a tag. It's a vicious cycle.

Around here there is a good 2-3 feet of dead area on the driver side of every single handicapped space, and the spaces themselves are bigger than normal as well.

None of them here have that, makes sense though.

I don't think when someone has one of these conditions they are going to be walking around in a large grocery store.

My comments were mostly directed to fat people, my friend just informed me that if one is medically considered morbidly obese under a few health care plans the insurance will cover a surgery to "correct the disease."

I know I'm probably blowing this way out of proportion, but it just pisses me off I work so hard to lose weight and these people are getting special treatment because they are lazy.

I have a bum hip so if I wanted to once I have a car I can apply for a handicap sticker because sometimes I can't walk very well. But I do agree that I see more people using the spaces that appear unhandicapped so to speak. The thing that ticks me off is that there are spots for pregnant ladies. Isn't the best thing for pregnant ladies walking and exercise? I think they should reserve those spots for families with small children that don't need to be walking through a busy parking lot. But pregnant ladies? Come on.

Hmm, let's take caution this does not turn into a "Bash the fat kid" kind of thread.

No matter what the reasons are, as far as I know no one in their right mind chooses to be obese. Sure, they might had it coming - certainly the guy in your post judging by the amount of sweets he bought. But saying that they are fat because they're lazy is just silly, at most a blatant generalization, even when the reason is eating and lack of exercise. Eating can be an addiction as well, you know. In my opinion there is never an excuse to scold someone for being fat, just as their isn't for someone being gay or having funny eyebrows.

I do realize you are talking about obese people getting handicap stickers. Well, if that is the law, there is really nothing you can about it. What is really your problem, actually? Have you so much trouble finding a parking space? How is it that you are so annoyed by handicap parking spots being occupied by people who legally have every right to be there?

And as Mecal and Durf already pointed out, some handicaps are invisible to the eye. I'm not even going to get into that. You don't get a handicap sticker if you don't have a handicap.

So far we can't tell what makes someone gay, so we can't bash there. Funny eyebrows and being fat however, are things you can change.

It isn't so much that we have a hard time finding a spot, it just seems like these people are being rewarded for being obese. I see the same thing at my local Hen House. Extremely overweight people who wheeze when they walk because they are so out of shape. They don't need the parking spot. If they also have a bad knee or something then we can talk. Most of the time however they seem fine besides being so incredibly huge.

I don't see why anyone cares if someone managed to get a handicapped sticker and parks 20 feet closer to Walmart than them. Unless it's jealousy.

They just seem to be cheating the system and I don't like anyone to do that unless its me.

Ah, there's the rub. I say if they managed to get a sticker from a doctor, they have the merit to be there. I don't ask questions, nor care enough to cause a stink about it.

Hear, hear, that's basically what I was saying in a nutshell.

Yeah, I totally agree. I hate when fat people whine about being fat, or they think people owe them something, like a brownie.

I mean, how hard is it to run or do excersise in your house? I make an effort to run 1-3 miles a day. I don't eat well at all, but I still run a lot, not only so it will keep my healthy, but I also enjoy it.

Oh, and when fat people smoke = getting owned by everything. That has got to be the worst combination, ever.
