Hammerdin vs. Diablo Clone

I know my gear kinda sucks right now, but come on....I couldn't kill Diablo Clone at level 86?

My hammerdin is based on the guide here and I like him a lot, but I'm wondering if I just don't have the damage to kill D-Clone yet? ATM, I do a pitiful 4k hammer damage with concentration aura and I was barely hurting him.

What I'm wondering is, will I be able to kill him with a 6-7k hammer and will I need some gear like dwarfstars, rising sun, t-gods, etc?

Or, do you think I could switch out my gear specifically for D-Clone by putting on a bunch of crushing blow and trying to melee him with crushing blow (guilleme's, black, goblin toe, duress) for 2/3 of his life and then trying to hammer him for the last 3rd?

I'm assuming you'll say that i just need more hammer damage (and that the absorb gear won't hurt) but I need some reassurance that making a D-Clone killer won't be needed (even though I'll probably still make a barb and get the hellforge :uhhuh: )

prevent monster heal + crushing blow + smite (the prevent monster heal muy important) then use hammers like you said to finish him

From absorb gear all you need is rising sun amulet - fire attack of D-clone most painfull. Actually only armagedon will hurt you if you position self correctly (aka very close to clone). Also it highly recomeded to have maxed fire/lighting resist + something increase max fire resist (infernostride boots for example)
As for damage 4k imo kinda low. Last clone I killed with my baby hammerdin lvl 87 (ladder) - nothing fancy, no absorb gear at all, all resistances 75, fire resist was 71, hammer damage was 6.2k at 125FCR. Took me couple min to take him down - the only reason for that I had to run in town and refresh my health pots supply once (because of armagedon)

Actually I was just thinking, my hammer damage would have been around 5.2k not 4k. I usually have my MF set up on with less damage.

Also, does D-Clone ALWAYS drop anni in a Hell game or is it just a high percentage. I didn't see one drop and the person who helped me said it didn't drop too and I believe him, It just sucked

I think you should be able to kill him at about 5 1/2 k. I killed him at 78 with decent gear and about 5.5k damage. I had to use like 12 rejuvs & 4 healings & he died just as I took my last healing pot.

At that time my only absorb was lightening from tgods & I was very close to him. His physical was pretty damaging & as said previously, fire was the worst. Now I waste him with 6.9k damage. I now use dwarf star for fire absorb. He absolutely always drops the charm in hell. If he did not, your friend was lying to you (or you were in nightmare).

This is my current gear which is not great & he goes down rather quickly.

Shako, upped vipermagi, ravenfrost, dwarf star, tgods, infernostride, +2 combat skills amulet, wizard spike, Hoz, Chance guards, annihilus charm. Resists 75 all, 85 lightening.

I could probably do without the thundergods as when you are very close, his lightening does not seem to hit. Also, high level Holy Shield will help a lot against physical attack. I have 1650 life & when physical attack hits, I lose like 600+ points, maybe more. I was and am now at 75% FCR which seems to be fast enough for all.

You should not need PMH or crushing blow. I don't even use a merc anymore.

There are definately faster clone killer but your pally will be fine to use.

My old Hammerdin did 12k damage with absolutely sick gear & it still took like 30-45 seconds (not the fastest but not half bad).
