Hammerdin Questions

I am going to make a hammerdin and I have a few questions.

What armor am I going to want? Enigma, or which of those other runewords?

For a weapon, should I get hoto?

Should I focus on getting max block with my HoZ and then the rest into vitality, what should my max base str be?

Last but not least, after maxing BA, BH, Vigor, and Conc, what would I want to put my skills into?

1) Enigma for the str, not for tele. i left my str at base 25 becuz of enigma.
CoH for res/+2skills. I would prefer CoH if i had more str.

2) Hoto is nice, but there are always other options. wizzy, d2c duped scepter, Doom zerker, etc. Depending on how u play, how rich you are and what are your other equipment. And whether your internet connection allows you to have a smooth 125fcr or 75fcr. i use 48fcr as i got 200+ping. no point for me to sacrifice my equipment for the extra fcr in my case.

3) yes, i suggest u get maxed block. BUT dun rush into pumping your dex until u have decided how many points u wanna dump into HS and your equipment set with the least +dex.
More life, more godly.
Like i said, mine is at base 25 str. but depening on your setup, i'd say dun add more than 15-20pts if you're using enigma.

4) After those, get at least a pt into HS. Almost ALL pallies go out to the battlefield with a SHINY shield. ;)
With HS, you'll get to use Charge for some nice positioning and dodging action in pvp.
HS also boosts your def, raised your CTB, thus less dex required.
More life, more godly. :D

my base str is 95 dex 55 vit is 60

I was wanting to wear my enigma (103 str req archon plate)

what kind of boots/gloves should I look into?

Get something which u can equip with your base stats AND have +str or +dex mods.

Imps will let you wear your Enigma if I'm not wrong.

But I prefer getting Str/Dex from rings and amulets, since they only have lvl req, and not str/dex req.

What merc should a Hammerdin get?

Defiance?

I went with Holy Freeze, as them slow monsters like to get slapped around by my hammers. Defiance is cool, but I'd rather kill fast enough to were getting hit isn't a worry for me.

Make sense?

My merc uses:
Blackhorns Mask
Guardian Angel
Reaper's Toll

Never dies.

what kind of boots/gloves should I look into?
For boots try to find some Waterwalks or Stormtrek[sp?] for the life boost.
My 96 Ladder Paladin on West uses 50 life Watewalks.

As for gloves my Paladin uses Magefists because of the faster cast rate and mana regeneration that it provides. Frostburns are also a viable option.

Uhm.. the runeword DOOM stacks the holyfreeze aura on top of defiance... so that's why defiance.. if you don't have the resources to make doom.. then go with holy freeze merc with the following

Eth Blackhorns
Eth Kelpies
your armor of choice

the blackhorn and kelpies will make your merc that much more effective due to the %slow enemy mods..
