    Hammerdin Block

I just started playing again a few days ago after years of break. I have a hammerdin now with enigma, phoz, etc. I have read that I am supposed to max my block. In order to be block capped I need to have 75% after holy shield. This is where I got confused. To check my block % I mouse over the Defense section in my character page correct? However it gives me a block % against a certain mob, so what mob should I base that percent off of?

If this is too confusing please let me know and I will try to reword it. Thank you.

Edit: Nvm, your block percentage isn't based off of each mob, only that mobs chance to hit you is dependent upon what mob it is. Ergo, 35%=35% regardless of mob.

The block percentage is only based on your level (higher levels lowers your block), your level of holy shield, level of blocking on shield, and dexterity. The only only thing that changes by mob when you mouse over is the chance to hit, not the blocking.

A question about block percentage. If you have a shield with a minimum, say, 50% to block, is the *lowest* your block percentage can be on your character sheet 50% (assuming, for argument's sake, that you have put no points into dexterity)?

no - that number is used in the formula to calculate total blocking.

As said above that is not the correct assumption.

    You should read this:
    http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Blocking

It has a lot of the info that you need including the formula. If you need any help after reading that please let us know.
