    "Guide" to early-game twinked MFer

I was really bored so I spent some time figuring this out. I also love seeing uniques fall early in the game even when it's a twinked character.

Level 1 - Equip 3 chip topaz armor, 2 chipped topaz helm (+45, 45 total)
Level 2 - Equip Arctic belt, gloves (+40, 85 total)
    Level 4 - Equip Gull dagger (+100, 185 total)
Level 5 - Replace chipped topazes with flawed. (+20, 205 total)
Level 6 - Equip Sigon's boots, shield. Replace Arctic belt and gloves with Sigon's belt and gloves. (+10, 215 total)
    Level 7 - Equip 2 Nagelrings (+30-60, 245-275 total)
Level 12 - Replace flawed topazes with normal. Equip Angelic amulet and replace Nagels with 2 Angelic rings. (+55-85, 330 total)
Level 15 - Replace normal topazes in armor with flawless. Replace helm with Tarnhelm socketed with a flawless topaz. Replace Sigon's gloves with Chance Guards. (+50-90, 380-420 total)
Level 16 - Socket Gull with Emerald (MF) jewel (+3-7) (383-427 total)
Level 18 - Replace flawless topazes with perfect topazes. (+16, 399-443 total)

    Level 18 equipment setup:
Weapon: Gull dagger w/mf jewel (+103-107)
    Armor: 3 ptopaz armor (+72)
    Helm: Tarnhelm w/ptopaz (+49-74)
    Rings: 2 Angelic rings (+100)
Amulet: Angelic amulet (to achieve MF set bonus on rings)
    Boots: Sigon's boots (+50)
Shield: Sigon's shield (to achieve MF set bonus on boots)
Belt: Sigon's belt (to achieve MF set bonus on boots)
    Gloves: Chance Guards (+25-40)

If you get to level 20 and absolutely can't handle fighting with a Gull dagger any more, switch equipment as such:
Weapon: Angelic weapon (to achieve MF set bonus on rings)
    Amulet: Tancred's amulet (+78)
Boots: Tancred's boots (to achieve MF set bonus on amulet)
    Shield: Milabrega's orb (+20)
    Belt: Arctic belt (+20)
    Gloves: Arctic gloves (set)

I'd suggest switching to a 3-topaz crown once +str charms become available.

The Angelic MF bonus doesn't work like that. You need 3 distinct items to get it. "Ring/ring/ammy" and "sword/ring/ring" won't work.

I'd choose a Perfect Tarnhelm/PTopaz (74 MF) over a 3os crown (72 MF) any day. It's possible an Artisan's crown could have a great suffix (e.g. +40 life) but that would significantly raise the level requirement.

Perhaps the best early twinked MF helm would be a rare circlet of Fortune + 2 PTopaz = 73 MF (with other potential great circlet mods) equippable in Act 1.
Or a Mechanic's Circlet of Luck (83MF) soon after that.

@IW: Sorry, I should've been more specific. My suggestion was intended for levels 2-14. No reason to stick to 2os headgear until Tarnhelm, as far as I can tell.
