    Ramblings
    I think I shall start at the start. One previous attempt at 1.07 failed miserably when OneDotZeroSeven's previous incarnation got frizzled by a Nightmare MSLE Council Member in Baal's Throneroom. Insta-death. Quit my attempt at 1.07, until recently, when I looked at my previous (1.13) characters, and realised I needed another Eth 'Zerker axe, and it wouldn't drop in the current patch. So, the easiest way to get one, was to rack it.
    Thus, OneDotZeroSeven was reborn. Learnt a good lesson from the MSLE insta-deeds though, so I was prepared. Or so I thought.

    1.07 is a very slow patch, having a shockingly slow levelling progression. From the start, to the finish, I never relied on getting that extra level or two. Luckily, with Static Field able to reduce demon life to a sliver, and Frozen Orb doing decent damage to everything, including Cold Immunes, I never had to.

    There were no MSLE spawns this time, so was pretty safe. I teleported past A1, A2 and part of A3 Hell, until I could do a bit of LK rack running. I racked a few 'Zerkers, and looked to rack an Archon Plate, but never found a stable rack. Thus, I decided to finish her off and get a few more levels.

    I practically teleported past most of A3, A4 and A5, killing only what was needed to proceed safely using Static Field to sliver demons. This included freeing the A5 barbs, allowing me to hire an overlevelled, level 79 Barb merc.
    This was pretty effective, until the odd teleporting boss, which is almost impossible to kill, and definitely not worth the effort. I did kill a few, but ignored many of them. The buying a belt full of rejuvies exploit (doesn't work with mana potions,) gives you plenty of potions to kill the teleporting uniques, if you so choose.

    Ancients were fun, giving 9 levels in Nightmare, and 7 levels in Hell. :) The Hell Ancients were a bit of rerolling until I could static field two, ensuring that none were MSLE, and able to divide them. Used Orb to shoot around a corner at the thrower, so that he kept throwing axes into a pillar. The remaining two could be static'd, and orbed easily.
    Teleported through the WSK, and staticed/orbed Baal's Waves without a hitch. Baal was outranged with Static, although he frizzled Tharr instantly. Frozen orb outranged him as well, and Baal fell.

    NDE's
    One memorable. Nightmare Baal. He teleported right next to OneDotZeroSeven, and cast his mana drain attack, which in 1.07, happens to take life instead of mana. Instant life drain, and was extremely lucky to survive it. I don't know if half of the attack missed, or how it deals damage, but I am completely sure it was pure luck to survive it.

    Conclusion and Post-conclusion
    1.07 is very rough. Multiple attacks that can insta-kill a character makes HC require a little luck. The slow levelling also means a lot of patience is required in some areas. It's lucky that Sorc's are able to bypass so many areas, and has two strong attacks that can deal with almost anything. Reasonably enjoyable though, and I look forward to finding some 1.07 haxord itamz. I am in search of an Archon Plate, or high defense Light Armour to make Chains of Honour in.
    OneDotZeroSeven is basically going to be racking. Maybe some cows, but mostly racking.

    Great, I'm doing this sorc too as we speak. A couple of questions:
    -Where have you put your skill points? Ok, I know 20 goes in orb/mastery each, what about the rest?
    -Did you have any problems with ATMA (if you used it) because of the Ancient's pledge RW?

    My sorc in 1.07 (lvl91) has maxed teleport and static aswell. ITs wonderful to be able to teleport without any mana drain :thumbup:. Static is selfexplanatory.

    I would just disregard runewords in 1.07. Dont make them. They do crash characters in atma. There is no runeword worth making imo anyways.

    Chairnick: Standard build based on the 1.07 build guides.
    While levelling, all points into Static Field until FO/Cold Mastery become available.
    20 Frozen Orb, Cold Mastery, Static Field
    1 Warmth, Teleport.
    OneDotZeroSeven has reached the point where all her main skills are maxxed. The remaining can go to where she needs it. Warmth or Teleport I imagine are the main two you'd invest in. In 1.13, some like a cold armour, but I personally don't, and have no info on them.
    I'm thinking I'll invest remaining points in Teleport until its effect on mana becomes minimal, then rest in Warmth.

    As you can see, all the stats above came from ATMA. I backed up the character before testing GoMule, which didn't work for me, then ATMA, which worked fine.
    I do disagree with snookers 'Don't make 1.07 runewords, as none are worth it' remark. Ancients Pledge gave a very cheap boost to resist, and was 100% worth it. I never found any shield that could even compete with it untwinked. It also didn't crash ATMA.
    However, the majority of 1.07 runewords are damn expensive, and don't provide much over rares. There are a couple though.
    In game, the mercs Eth/Amp Damage sword only does 100 max damage, not 149.

    Eric: Not sure. I don't have the ingredients to do any crafting ATM. I'll do some crafting to improve on OneDotZeroSeven's gear, and then I may get a taste for it, but I'm not really looking to bring much forward - only really for an easier way to find weapons/armours - the enhanced damage is just cheese-flavoured-icing. So far, I've only made the two items below: Not sure if I should turn the Death into a Grief though. Seems pretty expensive.

    Hey.

    When it comes to crafting ingredients like jewels and runes i find te Lk chests to be nice. Not to mention the charms etc you also find. Found a Lo in 1.07 while racking. Yes it is not as abundant in 1.13 though.

    My point about the runewords was mostly that to be sure no corrupt characters happen dont make them. Ancients pledge is i suppose a safe bet.

    Other things also crash charactes (if i remember correctly). Mods like freezes target for ex. But dont quote me on that :)..

    Other tips you may find useful is
    1. for a merc weapon i think one of the best are racked Bulkathos colossus blade..

    2. If you are able to find MF breakpoints (556Mf) and run bosses with a sorc i find the best strategy is to teleport on the boss and static without moving. The boss will only hit you and merc will survive to do the killing blow.

    This obviously dont work well will baal :).. But if you static him from a safe distance to a slive and then teleport to him and move out of the way immediately it is managable. Not something i recommend in HC though :)

    3. Dont discount runnimg bosses with less Mf. You will get all rares and alot of circlets from mephisto which can be nice.

    Dry, snook is just an abbreviation of our user names.

    I use Vista, and know that with both my 1.13 install, and 1.07 install I had trouble. Unfortunately, that was half a year ago when I got my laptop, so I can't remember how I resolved either issue - just that it took some messing around.

    My 1.07 doesn't run under any compatibility mode, but runs with the CD in a virtual drive (Alcohol 52%.) Sorry I can't really help, as I don't have Win7.

    How do you mule things?
    I have played 1.07, but GoMule didnt work. To mule things off to 1.13 I copied save files, update the character to 1.13 and finally use GoMule. I has to be better way, right?
    Does AMTA work? Are there any issues that can somehow "crash" or "taint" a character (apart from RWs)?

    Lvl 91? Thats impressive. My Sorc is stuck at ~52 (act3 hell) and I have no idea how and where to lvl up her a bit, so she can accually kill things in hell.

    Chairnick and kimppi are right. Using Atma ito mule from 1.07 to any other version just create a 1.07 char (in atma) and save it under the save folder of version you want to mule the item to (That way you dont have to copy the char).. Then start that char in that version so its converted and then use atma again to mule the item where you need it :).

    To get to lvl 91 i ran the dll that enables you to start multiple D2 instances on the same computer so that i could run "players 8" :). I initially did it to try out rushing but then also to level some more.

    Reason for leveling in 1.07 is mainly to be able to craft some very nice things. Check out this link for some pointers regarding that.
