Hello again, Ladies and Gentlemen. I need to write this guy up so that I can steal his charms for another character (oops, too late). He is named after the alter ego of The Shadow, Lamont Cranston, one of whose trademarks is his dual .45s. Dual .45s, Double Throw. I've kept him geared for so long because I really enjoyed playing him. He's a really nice screw around with friends character. Speaking of friends, this guy came up with Pyro's Fire Huntermentalist (*wispers* he died). I believe we were on a kick of playing lower powered builds that might not necessarily be that fun to solo with. My "Hell Baal Drop" screenshot indicates that this character was done 09.08.2014. Better late than never, amiright?

I love rares. That is the main reason I made this character. I had picked up and kept a lot of rare throwing weapons (one of my favorite things to find) and they were sitting around begging to be used. The other reason I made this guy was because I'd not yet tried Double Throw and I generally like ranged characters. I did try him out with dual wielding the usual uniques (Warshrike, Lacerator, Demon's Arch), but I just really wanted to show off some rares. The uniques do have some fine mods so I wound up with one each of the two "best" unique throwing weapons. Everyone who says that you shouldn't use eth/repair weapons on a thrower is right. You are constantly in town to repair; he goes through them that fast. Eth repair may be okay for a boss, showing off max damage, or if you find yourself double swinging a lot, but skip them for actual play. I'm still very much on the fence about Razortail. It's usually a must for me and ranged characters, but I'm not sure it really helps this build out as much as I'd have liked.

I have no future plans for him other than to ungear him and retire him. I may keep him geared, but w/o charms for a while since a lot of his gear is so specialized. If an MP game comes my way, I may roll him out (Edit: written before I completely gutted him and put him in the retirement home).

Did you ever used grim ward? I found the skill quite useful for thrower barb, it creates an aura of safety from which you can attack and the monsters still in your range. I also recommend the use of myth on this char, quite fun to lure them to you and immediately scare them away :).

Future chars?

One of my favorite characters was a tournament thrower barb. He didn't have nearly the damage your guy did, but you are right, he spent a lot of time repairing his equipment. Nice job!

Not on this guy, Pyro's summons gave me a safe area to work from. I am using it on my leaper that I'm nearly done with, it's great for him since he can't be standing around casting howl all the time.

I wasn't going for an effects based ranged character, I was going for pumping out as much damage as I could. With that in mind, Fort is a must. Damage is why I picked Giant Skull over something else because I usually insist on having a source of knockback with my rangers, but I wanted to use LoH for their damage. Gskull also has the two holes that allow customization. I guess something that may have been more damaging would be Dream hat, but I don't have one of those yet.

(I'm currently leveling a Wolfbarb, and may well follow in YoungBull's footsteps in using a "Silence" offhand weapon, for the reasons you articulated and because it will likely let me finally equip an ethereal Skulder's Ire. :D)

Special thanks for the details of the alternate weapons. Your comment about truly unique weapons resonates very strongly with me. You may find the rare, crafted, and even magical javelins wielded by my Fending Mistress o' Minions Javazons to be of some interest.

Awe, shucks:oops: I really appreciate your comments. I read every Guardian thread for the same reason. Only occasionally will I check out a Pat/Mat thread, but I'll read every Fishymancer Guard thread. I am now caught up on all of my completed characters, but have at least four that I'm working on occasionally. So more Guards to follow. <3 me some silence weapons, hope it works out as well for you as it did for me! Youngbull's one of my favorite characters and sadly one of the best wolves I've played (sad because a Barb arguably does werewolf better than a Druid). I will be excited to read about your character.

Rares are so cool, I will read that thread right after posting this. I especially love rare javelins.

Congrats !!! Awesome character, dito write-up. You surely have some top notch rare weapons there.

I've tried a DT Barb once and really liked it. A lot. I saved some low level throwing weapons especially for that char. And gave up on it before reaching Hell, because of the repairs :(. They just drove me crazy. So kudos to you for doing this.

Shake loose 5 skill points, drop them in Frenzy, wind that up & THEN you have the machine gun...
I've yet to attempt a Throwbarb, but when I do I plan to take this advice. I played a Javazon to Guardian teamed with a Double Throw / Frenzy Barb driven by my partner. Both characters were able to switch between melee and ranged attacks with the same weapons. This significantly reduced the need to go to town for repairs.
