Guardian Fenris - Wolfy (3/7)

Well, Fenris is now Guardian Fenris, the level 82 MAX Vit wolf.

He had a lot of trouble with losing 3k+ hp in seconds, but that was overcome with a slight change in tactics.
As recommended, I also got a bear, which I was quite disappointed with. To me, he was the worst minion you could get. He was the last into the fight (including my OS,) first to run away from a fight, and died at least 4 times more than my OS, despite using my OS as a tank (which worked quite well.) Half the time he'd stand around a corner dieing to poison. :shocked:

Had some more problems with PI's in the Arcane Sanctuary, but kept running the maps until I got past. After that, very little trouble, and Fenris could tank almost anything.

Oh, and I had to equip the Duriel's Shell and Aldur's Weapon to get enough strength to equip the Lionheart, which then gave enough strength to equip the Ethereal Edge.

Congrats on the guardian! It's always an accomplishment to bring down the three without dying in the way.

About Duriel, I think you're talking of normal duriel since in latter difficulties CS brings him down. Normal is not so bad, almost any high damage weapon for the stage (deathspade, soul harvest, griswold's edge come to mind) will do the trick

You can tank him and bring the big worm down. You don't even need rejuvs, heal potions will do the trick and always keep at melee range so Duriel won't charge. If you play right, you can have Duriel attacking your merc instead of you so you can score some free hits while the merc lasts

Congratulations!

That equipment switching would've confused the heck out of me.

How were Gloams with that lightning resist? Did the 6k+ life bulb just drink up their bolts of meanieness? ;)

Looks solid enough, GG on finishing it. One question though, why go for Aldur's boots instead of IK boots? Partial set boni are really quite nice with 3 parts.

I also have a Wolf called Fenris - but mine is SC and only lvl 15 the moment.

When I tried to fight Duriel, he took her down to half health in 1 hit, and juvies didn't even help. Guess it's more the items I'll have to work on. I did only attempt it once though, so she should be fine with patience. Aliandra won't be twinked that much, mostly just a Titan's.

Yeah well... With base strength (15,) plus the Strength from the ring and amy, I didn't have enough for my Lionheart or Ethereal Edge. Duriel's and Aldur's weapon (+15 strength bonus for two items) allowed me to wear the Lionheart, which then let me wear the Eth Edge.
Funny thing is, I had to do the Duriels first, then Aldurs, then Lionheart, then Eth Edge. If I did Aldurs, then Duriels, I'd have to drop the Lionheart on the ground and pick it back up. Confused the hell out of me for a while. Lol... :grin:

Luckily, I only had gloams in Act 3, but with Feral rage fully charged, they didn't do a lot to me. Running that fast, it's easy to dodge, and then get them to target something else. Mostly just dodging, then charging in and furying all of them at once.

Aldurs vs IK: I did have a pair of both, so I'll have a quick look at the bonus's and say why I chose Aldurs.
IK Give 25% MF and Barb skills, neither worth it for me, as well as hit recovery/defense from the belt and gloves. The boots give 44 life and 110 AR.

Aldurs give 50 to life and 45% Fire resist.
I agree, that for a normal character, the 3 aldurs would generally be better, but this is not a normal character. I was seeing what I could get away with in terms of adding no dex/str. I was also wondering how much life I could get, so the 6 more life Aldur's gives was what I was looking for.
Basically, I was only looking for 2 things. +Str/Dex and +vit/life. All other mods were not valuable for this character for me.
I can not imagine how someone got a 10k life wolf, but they'd probably have CtA I think and a higher level.

Common name me thinks. :rolleyes: Well, what wolf in literature qualifies for such power? Cerberus and Fenris. I like to take some of my names from mythology, and I couldn't think of a good wolf name. :grin:


Oh, and I ended up changing to a Holy Freeze merc in act 3 hell.

Yeah. I'm sure some people would find the item swapping for strength requirements cheesy, but I say to them, try doing it with a no Str/Dex char. I could have gotten a lighter Lionheart, but that was the one out of two total that was spare. It's what I wanted for this char, and it was quite fun doing it.

I also was wondering, should I socket the Helm with a PRuby (+100hp I think) and how would this impact his total health with wolfform and OS [keeping in mind it was built for max hp I could manage?] My first CtA will be for this guy :grin:
