grizzly or shockwave for warebear

Hi,

I am trying to build a warebear around upgraded ribcracker and
maul / shockwave / wb / lycanthropy / oak sage, but I'm unsure about
skill distribution.

The main question I have is should I max shockwave or try to redirect
some of its points to grizzly. At level 10 in act 1 hell, shockwave seems
pretty nice, but will it have the same duration on lister and his minions
in worldstone chamber?

i would try and not get more than 10-15 points in shockwave, after + skills.

i would use HoW instead of oak sage

IMO grizzly may be ok, but for it to be a great one, you would also need to invest heavily in dire and spirit wolves (basically, become a summoner with only a few points in the shapeshifting tree)

shockwave is always a one point wonder. Unless you're playing untwinked and really want or need those 10+ seconds of stun then id sacrifice some more points.

Yeah, based on your advice, I ran some calculations on various damage and skill calculators and i got that the upped ribcracker with max wb max maul would not top 3.5 K dmg (it's possible that I've made a mistake and that the damage would be even lower).

So I have to decide if I want that many life or I want more damage (which will determine HoW/OaK points). Thus if i stay with that low damage, i might need more points in shockwave...

This probably should be reposted as new question, but are there other weapons
that, used with warebear, outperform upped ribcracker. Grief, Tomb Reaver, others?

Those calculations don't take the 50% CB on the ribby in consideration.

Hello,

You could always just put 1 skill point into both Grizzly and Shockwave (6 extra points total). With plus to skills items the Grizzly will still be an easily re-castable tank/distraction, it just will not do that much damage when compared to a Grizzly with the maximum skill points invested. You really never need to invest more than 1 point in Shockwave, especially considering the 10 second cap on stun length in Hell. Any more than a level 15 Shockwave is a waste, as the stun length cannot get any longer (in Hell) and the damage is rather pathetic at any level.

Good point, yeah both is a good idea. 10 second cap at lvl 15+, yeah... I think that's what I meant before lol. Wups

Hello,

Upon review - the 10 second stun cap may be active in all difficulty levels, not just Hell. I just can not remember if it is secretly coded into the game, or only active in higher difficulty levels. Nevertheless, it does exist! Therefore, S.level 15 Shockwave (through hardpoints invested or otherwise) results in the maximum achievable stun length.

Another idea if you are going to continue to use a Ribcracker is to get 50% more Crushing Blow (to end up with 95 or 100%) and put some points into Hunger, as it generally decreases your frames per attack (faster rate of attack) when compared to Maul. Swinging a Shael'ed Ribcracker with Hunger should get you a 6 frame attack, when combined with 95-100% Crushing Blow it will bring down almost any monster's life bar quite rapidly - plus you can carry your Maul charge the entire time for the stun effect! When they are at very low life, simply switch back to Maul and exterminate. To answer your other question, the general consensus is that (for a Mauler, or a Hungerbear) an upped Ribcracker is the best weapon in the game. . .

Hello,

It makes you wonder what they were smokin' when N.Blizzard designed the Shockwave skill in the first place. Unlike for example a Necromancer's Summon Resist skill which begins experiencing diminishing returns around s.level 7. Shockwave should have at least had diminishing returns applied after s.level 15, especially since it does practically negligible damage. The code apparently says otherwise however. . .
