Griswolds set overlooked?

I was just looking @ griswolds set at battle.net and it looks like it could do fine on a avenger or melee paladin of some sort. it has something like 11 open sockets and the other mods are just sweet. In fact, even if its only "viable", and not uber godly, the style points and the glow would more than make up for it.

Whaddya think?

I think its an overlooked set as well, however I have no found any parts of the set except the armor. All those sockets and its already available powers make it worth it to me.

The only thing I don't like about the set is the armor, its not weak, but it is definitely outshined by the other choices out there.

yeah, the armour doesnt get any partial set bonuses. It does have 3 sockets though, which could be filled nicely

The entire griswold set including the equipment gives

1456-1573 defense
+65% faster block rate
adds 20-40 damage
69% chance to block on shield
5-87 smite damage on shield
+5 To Paladin Skill Levels
+30% Faster Hit Recovery
+200 To Attack Rating
+40 To Strength
+30 To Dexterity
+150 To Life
All Resistances +100
20-30% mf
11-12 open sockets (3-4 on weapon, 3 on shield, rest on armour/helm)
150-165 avg dmg on weapon w/ base speed of -10 and 40 ias on weapon
.25 cold absorb per clvl
Display Aura

The set can be completed at clvl 69 and it looks P.I.M.P

I think something can be made out of it. Possibly an Mfer.

I hear the set is super-hard to find. I've only found the armor. Has anyone had any luck finding the pieces from monsters? If so, which monsters dropped them?

I have full set and it does work well. Just not viable in PvP because of the low dmg. The caddy has a low physical dmg so Vengence wouldn't be that powerful. Though there are better options, it will still work.

I found the Corona (helm) during a Hell pit run. The armor drops everywhere. I haven't found any other set pieces this ladder season.

I got the whole set for free on NL last summer in a giveaway. Its a really good set for melee pallys, especially if you socket your weapon with the correct runes/jewels.

Sounds like the price of the socketables will be far greater than the price of the set items themselves.

Would there be a good build for this set using only PGems or low-mid level runes to socket?

my friend who used to play showed me his griswold setup a while back. it was used on a frost zealot. in the weapon he had 3 shaels and an ed jewel, in the armor he had 3 puls, i don't remember what he had in the other sockets. he wasn't all too rich, but he said he was saving up for cold facets.

imagine the gold you could find with all the pieces socketed with lem runes.

facets, runes and gems to the set

"The answer is simple... Full grizwold set, socket the weapon with 3 bers and 1 mal, and fill the armor pieces with what you see fit. my frostzealot can take out 8 player baal in less than a minute. cheers"- myst_lynx
