Gris Set for MF - Zealot?

 This is the first Paladin I've built really so I'm not totally sure what I'm doing. I was thinking if I could get Gris set, I could use P Topazs to make it a good MF set.
Or is this a bad idea because a Pally is bad for MF? What do you guys think?
I know most are gonna say build a sorc for MF, but I'm not really wanting to. I'd like to get a lot of use out of my first high lvl char.

well it'd only be like 5 or 6 p topazes right (can't remember how many sockets are in the helmet) which is about 150% mf. personally i would just make yourself a set of mf gear, that way you won't be a griswold pally with bad sockets and low mf, you can just change when you go from magic finding to normal pvm

Yeah, the gris set, in my honest opinion, is only really good because of the many sockets in it... it'd be a shame to fill them up with just MF, when you could potentially add some good runes to beef up your character a bit more.

There is better MF gear than that anyways...

...... I'll never understand why people always want to do weird mf builds, I mean hey if you wanna do weird builds for pvm go for it thats for fun but a weird mf build is just pointless, if you want to mf use a sorc. In my opinion gris armor is pretty useless but I dunno jack about pallys because I am a super pally noob.

I honestly don't understand why you would use the complete set, when uniques will provide you with a much stronger character.

From what I understand, the weapon and shield are 'adequate' to 'good' for PvP when smiting, but really that's it.

Now I must confess that while I have the complete set, I do not actually use it. So I cannot say what to socket it with to make it better, but I am sure that the uniques you could equip would wipe the floor.

Let's have a look at some other fillers:

Weapon

Stormlash - CTC Static Field on striking, insane speed and good damage...what more do you need?
'Crescent Moon' - CTC Static Field on striking - basically a poor man's Stormlash
Death Cleaver - 33% CB IIRC, -target defence, good damage
Upgraded Headstriker - scaling DS and max dam, prevent monster heal - excellent weapon

Armour

'Chains of Honour' - need I say more?
'Lionheart' - again, great armour
Leviathon - high defense and damage reduction
Shafstop - excellent choice it's the true and trusted
Guardian Angel - +skills, increased resists, increased blocking - probably the Paladin armour of the century ^^
Iceblink / Upgraded Iceblink - while the mods on this are not great, surprisingly the Freeze Target is excellent. You will be surrounded by frozen monsters, andyou're free to whack them away

Shield

HoZ - I don't think I need to say anything here
Alma Negra - possibly a better shield for a Zealot... +AR +ED and +skills - only thing it lacks is resists...
Sigon's - yeah I know, but high blocking and +skills not a bad option as such...

I guess if you REALLY wanted to make a griz MF pala, you could... it'd be rather expensive though. Not to mention lacking in damage... and survivability...

Buuuut, if you really want to do it, here's how it'd be done - at least in my opinion:

Griz Helm - 2x Ptopazes - 73%; I think
Griz Armor - 3x Ptopazes - 72%
Griz Shield - 3x Ists - 75%
Griz Weapon - 4x Ists - 120%
Goldwrap - 30%
Dracul's Grasp
War Traveler - 30-50%
Highlord's Wrath
Ravenfrost
Rare leach ring/5% bk ring

Not counting charms, that's about 420% MF. Really leaves you lacking in the damage department, though. I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if you made a hammerdin, though you could easily get more MF by going with other items.

Just my 2 cents.

Going by the useful information you guys give me, I should stick to PVM with this guy eh ? I appreciate all the help, this is my first char in months and I really havent played consistently since 1.09 .. didnt really play seriously in L1 or any of 1.10...

I hadnt previously heard of Stormclash... how much does it cost ? I'm using a Shael'ed Redeemer (Unique Scepter) right now, its pretty good.

Most of that stuff on your list for PvM I cant afford yet but I agree with you guys, I should stick to PvM

What should I use my 3 sockets in Gris armor for though ?

Seeing as how you can unsocket it, I'd drop three perfect rubies in it for now. If you find another, throw three perfect topazes in the event you want to do a bit of MFing on the side.

Rubies, or Resist Jewels are about the best sockets I can think of off hand.
