Grief or Last Wish

hey im just wondering, i am making a smiter paladin mainly for ubers and i wanna know which weapon is better..Last Wish or Grief?? Grief is probably better for PvP and it gives more dmg to smite since ed doesn't work with smite when its on a weapon..but lw has critical life tap..because lots of times having it on exile is not enough...then again grief has more ias and damage to demons..so which one is better?

I would definitely say Grief, although I never tried LW. The extra damage from grief is amazing. 15% ctc life tap should work, you can also wear draculs for an extra 5%, which should cast life tap once every 5 hits, more than enough.

Grief, no hesitation.. + Last wish is so expensive for nothing...

I would use Grief. It will provide massive damage on phase blades as well (more than any Last Wish weapon) and Last Wish doesn't provide any IAS, so you will need far less IAS equipment. IMO that's better than having a might aura. BTW, CB from e.g. Guillaumes and Gores is enough to smite e.g. Ãœber Meph to death in 15-20 seconds with a zealer with only 1 point invested in smite.

tnx..but jsut to say taht last wish does have 60-70% or crushing blow and lvl 11 fade..

my question is what does a grief cost in non ladder? like ppl trading lots of things for them but i just wanted to make sure..i have sojs and hrs for trade and i need coh e exile with res and ed% and a weapon and then i will have my smiter

FWIW, this gear on a very old/poorly built smiter of mine had no problem solo-ing tristram, taking on all 3 at once, no running away:

COH armour
Beast zerker
Exile shield
Guillames helm
Verdungos
20ias/8cb/stats/life/lifeleech gloves (20ias/cb is all that matters)
Goblin toe boots
Raven frost
Nature's peace (I now know this offers nothing vs these three, so replace with whatever ring you want)

And the aura I use is SALVATION.

Some points:
- Crushing blow is all that matters. Even tweaked out grief smiter dmg PALES in comparison with crushing blow on a 600k life boss. This setup has 93% CB.
- Fanat provided by Beast, frees up aura usage so that you can EASILY and CHEAPLY stack your resists with salvation.
- Once life tap triggers, you are invincible. With exile this will happen fairly quickly.

All three dead within a minute.

I had the chance to try out both Grief and LW last ladder. Here's what I found out...

LW
1) CB on LW rocks. My v/t was lvl89 and he was almost invincible.

2) You definitely need more IAS to hit quick. I think I needed like 60IAS more on my equipment which wasn't much of a problem.

3) Ctc Life Tap on LW means you can use Phoenix elite shields. *drool*

4) Was a fair fight in duels against Grief users. Imagine that...

5) This is simply for vanity. Imagine the auras going on for you when you use LW, Phoenix and Fanaticism. Coupled with CTA, you have several sexy alternating auras at the same time. *drool* again

Grief
1) Tighter amount of dmg dealt cos of +dmg bug.

2) Much faster and if made in PB, no extra IAS needed. If made in zerker, I think if it's >35%IAS, you need no more as well.

3) You'll need either Dracs or Exile to trigger Life tap.

4) Rocked in PvP but a little boring.

from my personal experience with both last wish and greif i found a few things that u might find useful

with last wish vs uber tristram the cb blows them away plus the extra life tap chance provided by wish is an added bonus however i found greif to be considerably less efective against them.

despite that i feel that last wish is the beter wep for ubers n grief is far superior to wish against any other opponent be it in pvm or pvp

and i found the best thing to do is use last wish to whittle down a bit, then use grief
