    Grief or Fort

got a Lo rune to use before reset... is it better to make Grief pb (got grief zerk but low ias), or make a Fort armor?

and another HR would probably for CoH instead of trading for Lo?

If you like a gamble, make Grief, else Fortitude.

CoH can be made on NL as well, that makes it worth as much as the parts in separate while ladder runewords are worth more.

    go the grief.

a Fort on NL has almost zero trade value unless it's in a superior sacred armour (for BvBs) or in an e-bugged armour (for mercs).

a Grief on the other hand has a value even if the roll is low'ish.

    Thanks advice.

I made a Grief pb and a Fort on 15ed wyrmhide. I have another elite armor 10ed 4os, but sadly couldn't get another LO. Probably make CoH on non-ladder with the Ber?

Well since you got a griefz then go for enigma and build a smiter. I hope you have upped hoz too.

    Re: Grief or Fort

    1. Make Grief into a phase blade. Do NOT make it into a BA, except you need it for PvP (where range is an important factor). BAs are slower than PBs and they need a lot of repair. Once I made one and I had to get it it fixed once every 10 minutes in PvM (and pick up loot to get the money for it), that sucked A LOT! Well OK, it felt like 10, but it was once per 1-2 solo Baal runs (I had to fight my way through the WSK, however).

    2. Smiters suck versus monster crowds, they are a bad choice for PvM. Better make a fana-zealot (he has one point in smite as well, you just need it to hit all the time and it's a holy shield prereq anyway) and give that Enigma armor to him. You only need smite versus Ãœbers and Baal, 99.9% of the rest is killed with zeal.

    3. Don't upgrade your HoZ if you have Grief. Even when upped, the smite damage increase is irrelevant in comparison to what Grief's +dmg bonus adds. Regular smite damage is just for life leech and for the last few blows when CB gets ineffective. Apart from that, its defense won't go up by much (if at all) while the str and level reqs will increase a lot.

even a zealot uses Enigma, then who's gonna use CoH, Fortitude?

    Re: Grief or Fort

Enigma is needed for reaching act bosses quickly, else you would have to do all these things with sorceresses. Otherwise Fortitude is obviously better. However, a malee paladin usually has 100%ed off weapon already, so another 300% from Fortitude will add less damage than you might expect.

A zealot uses CoH in UT where teleporting isn't needed, but overstacking resists (althgough Smoke is nearly as good for that purpose). It's also popular among casters, as it provides +2 skills and more resists than any other body armor can provide.

Fortitude is the ultimate bow amazon and maybe also WW barbarian armor. In particular strafe and multishot bowazons don't have much off-weapon %ed, so Fortitude will be extremely useful for them.

    Re: Grief or Fort

    1. Depends for a barb I prefer grief ba with 34+ ias for rangeadder. I would not want to sacrafice rangeadder for a ww barb even in pvm. But if you are talking about smiter then I would go pb over ba.

    2. Excellent point that zeal is better than smite for pvm. I would choose zeal over smite in pvm but smite over zeal in pvp.

    3. Its still better to up your hoz than not upped. Its the average damage that helps when uber has life tap on him. Even a little bit more damage is still better than less damage.

Correct, I forgot to mention WW barbs as an exception.

I would rather invest the saved stat points into vit, that's probably more useful than a bit more smite damage.

Yes, it's physical damage which is ignored by PIs.

Imo in pvm you can just use PB's on a WW barbarian. Saves the repair bills.

    "it's" is a contraction, not a possessive!!!11!2345! :)

I don't usually complain about things like that since most people don't care, but I get that impression that you'd rather use proper language.

I have a Grief BA on my frenzied zealbarb, and it requires repair pretty often. I went through the RoF earlier on /players8, and I had to repair it twice, and I didn't even clear the whole area!

Huh? I uses "it's" instead of "it is", else the word "which" would make no sense.
