Greetings! - the intro post
Per the guidelines, this is the intro post. As you might guess, my name's Todd and I play Diablo 2 (waves). I've been playing on and off (mostly on) since the day D2C was released - the dinosaurs among you might just remember me as a prominent poster on the paladin forum during the game's first few months. Since then I've played everything numerous times, mostly in purist single-player - no-twink, no-mule, full-clear. Occasionally, I've played on USEast since the Expansion.
Like most of you (I'd guess), I'm here because of general disappointment with the Realms. Purist single-player has its charms and is a great challenge. But with the changes in 1.10, I find it awfully limiting for character choices. My lvl75 Fanaticism Zealot is struggling terribly in Act 1 Hell for lack of decent gear - while he's certainly gotten some good drops, very little is relevant to the build. So I start new ladder chars online, hoping for more opportunity, but I mostly just see a lot of children and duped items, especially the runes to which I had especially looked forward. The children are escapable - playing with AB or just choosing not to play with the obviously anti-social adolescents takes care of that. (No offense, teens/pre-teens - I know many of you are not evil.) But the trading economy isn't escapable, at least not without a network of trusted people much larger than what I have.
So I'm here. Looking forward to talking with you, and seeing you in some games.
Cheers!
Todd
