got a bit time checking out diablo "hacks"?
yes, i did. here is what I found about them:
- easy to obtain.
- easy to use.
- easy to customize (not for every1, but for all "hard-core" programmers other than the dumbest).
- perhaps also easy to get your acct banned (unless you are a savvy exploiter)
If you know all this, do you still feel good about playing HC untwinked on ladder 2?
Isn't playing HCL untwinked so foolish to any1 other than the most die-hard hard-core gamers?
After I skimmed some source code and with one minor change successfully compiled a complete script interpreter (BTW I won't use/customize these code unless some1 me pays big bucks for that), my thought was:
- Many "hacks" do not run as "hacks". Instead, they are hooked up inside the game, making them an "integral" part of the game program. As a result,
- Blizz can only fight a "losing" battle in this technical battle ground. There is simply no way stopping client-side "hacks". (the componsation for Blizz is their markerting success).
- L2 lvl 99 racing contest? forget about it. For you, it is you, a real human, who plays your chars. But for some other ppl, it is the d2 program, running 24x7, who plays their chars.
- Goal is to have fun? ya, playing through the game particulary without dying is fun, but isn't automating the d2 program also fun! Once some ppl can automate d2, aint scriping to pk or even pkk also fun to them too!
- On top of everything here, I guess all such activity is probably not against applicable laws. So the hacks are not really "legit" but may very well still be "legal" (until a jury or a judge says something different).
