good merc gear for meph running

whats some recommended gear for my holf freeze merc i use with my meteorb sorc while running mephisto?

im not sure what the majority of his damage is (magic or physical?) if its physical than i guess i should go with an upgraded shaftshop? what about helm? but if its magic damage than im not sure what i should try and get..

any help would be greaty appreciated

Generally, mercs are just there to tank so the sorc can aim properly at Meph. Mine uses a Reaper's Toll, Galdiator's bane (high defense and CBF) and a Guillaume's Face. Mine never gets the final kill, just tanks and rarely dies. It generally takes the council on the right side to kill him.

Generally though, all you need for your merc to tank meph is something to slow him down. Even someting as basic as a Kelpie Snare or the Unique Poleaxe or Blackhorn's Face. Also, PDR, such as what comes from Shaft/Gaze/etc is great.

Also, if your just running Meph in NM or hell, don't worry about giving your merc leech. Although it is nice for facing the occasional Vampire lord thingy unique pack, he can't leech off of meph and therefore it is useless.

So, to recap, in order of preference:
1) Slow Target
2) PDR
3) High Defense

I agre with CRG - weapon with slows target is perfect here. My merc uses shaftstop ane gaze with res all (14 i 8) jewels. That giwes him 49 PDR (near max), slow target and max rezists. But ewen in this gear hi need a potion sometimes.

Mine used Eth Reapers Toll, Uped Shaft and Uped Gaze. Both the Shaft and Gaze had UMs in them for max resist.

This guy was so to speak ZODed. He would never die, even tho high defense is more important then %DR in 1.10 (IMO). If he never gets hit, no need for %DR, right?

And Meph was a baby after he got decreped. I ran him with my Ama so the runs didnt go THAT fast, but still . . .

I generally use Reaper's Toll, Guillaume's Face/Andariel's Visage/Vampire Gaze/Delirium, The Gladiator's Bane/Shaftstop/Leviathan on my act 2 mercs. Any of the armors or helms just depend how I feel.
