Good level to start the pit?

My sorc just hit lvl 67 and I'm getting really tired of doing NM Baal runs. Would it be possible for me to start doing the pit in Hell, if I use frozen orb to distance myself from enemies? I figure this way I can start looking for decent items and gradually build up exp until I can just run it without worrying as much as I would now..

I started pits at 65 with my zon and she did fine.......

Its really dependent on how advanced your char is gear wise. You could be level 80 and not be able to do pits, or you could own them at 60....

Well, my gear is kind of a hodge-podge of stuff I recieved from a generous trader. Part of my hope in the pit would be to find some better stuff for my sorc as well.. I'd just have to be careful of the cold immunes, since I'm primarily a frozen orb sorc (still building up CL)..

Haha, well, since cold immunes are those skelly guys, you can teleport away from em. BUt i wouldnt suggest it.

Are they always there, or is it random like in other areas?

What I'm getting at is, could I simply try multiple games until i get one without them? o_O

The pit virtually always spawns with Fire, Lit, and Cold Immunes. There have been a few times where I have seen relatively few of one particular type of immunes, but very rarely. It would never be worth it to respawn time and time again to get one just right...

You could always do what I do, and just skip the enemies you don't like. I use a LF Javazon, so I can't really touch the Lit immune archers there. I just run past them, and kill everything else that isn't lit immune.

Something that deals physical or magical damage is good for it.

Cold Mastery only works on resists and not immunties, correct?

Just trying to weigh my options but running is prolly my best bet. :)

Hire a defiance merc to help U out. Makes an incredible difference. I'd also invest points into fire somewhere (I'd go meteor)

If you're a cold sorc, I suggest running the Mausoleum, and not the pit.

Good advice here, I found a Tal armor on my third run when my Blizz sorcie hit hell @ lvl65.

Another good area for cold sorcs is the Ancient Tunnels in Act2. I found an Azure there last nite.

I agree with Usu for a couple of reasons: 1) no cold immunes. 2) undead move REALLY slow. 3) monsters are not as densly packed as the pit. these last two are a really good characteristic if you dont have anything to tank for you effectivly in hell. 4) allows you to also hit Blood Raven and they Crypt (lower area level, but just as easy)

I took my meteorb sorc into the mausoleum at level 70ish wearing nothing but bad rare and magical MF gear I found in nm and she did fine. typically throw an orb through the doorways to chill everything then clean up with fireballs. If you find a tough boss pack retreat through a door and cast a bunch of meteors or blizzards on the other side so you get the minions when they try to figure out who's going to go through first.

I'd say the pit won't give you anything useful short term quickly (exp is an exception). Do NM meph to get some starter gears.

CL should be able to deal with the cold immunes one you have the max reaching 3k or so. Oh.. and bring LOTS of Pots.

Get a holy freeze merc too.

Nope, the Ancient Tunnels in the Lost City.

I like it there more than the Mausolem because there seems to be more monsters and not as much area.

My meaty orb sorc does fairly well in the pit.
I never tried it 'till level 80, because I thought she would be utterly useless since she could barely do Mausoleum and Tunnells.
How wrong I was... The pit is easier with a meaty orb sorc like mine. I recently procured an up'd Shaftstop for my merc, so not I barely use Orb at all. Just for the fire immunes. Merc just stands there and stabs things, I rain meteoric death.
    I love it.
