Gomule not working properly. Could use some help.

I downloaded gomule GoMuleR4.2_1.13 and java latest version. I unzipped gomule and opened the gomule.jar file.

I tried to trade an item from one character to another. I clicked on open character then made my way to my diablo 2 save folder to open both characters I wanted to trade the item from and to. I then selected the item and it popped the item into the clipboard then I used the mouse to select where on the other character I wanted the item to be dropped to. Then I try to hit save and I get a backup error. Close out both characters and then reopen them and the item never transferred. I tried the same thing a bunch of times and even opened diablo 2 to see if anything ever transfers but nothing ever does. Same with stashes. It looks like it works properly with stashes and even shows the item going into the stash but when I log back onto my character the item never left my character. The stash will show that the item is there but if I try to pick the item up with another character the item does not show up in that characters inventory.

Is there something I am missing? Can someone explain how they make a trade from one character to another or how to properly open the characters? Also, any help on stashes would be appreciated very much.

I make sure diablo 2 is completely closed down before I try to do anything. I feel like maybe I am not loading characters into gomule correctly though I can't think of another way to do it.

The error is:

Can not create backup dir: C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Save\GoMule.backup\W2014.06.29

Make sure your D2 folder/files aren't read-only, try moving the folder out of Program Files too.

Also try running as administrator.

Beoulve that 100% worked. I simply moved my entire diablo 2 folder to my desktop and moved gomule to the desktop too and for some reason that did the trick. I now have a bunch of stashes and have successfully traded between my characters. Thanks for the help. This has made playing this game fun again now that I don't have to keep selling gear I have no room for to vendors.

The game is completely different once you can mule. It's a lot more fun imo, and that's even if you exclude the idea of grailing and stuff like that

Couldn't agree more. The inability to transfer items between characters was a huge oversight on the part of the devs. I used to get really annoyed when an awesome item dropped for a character that couldn't use it! And don't get me started on runes...

Its been a total blast playing since gomule has been working I have sooooo many items in stashes now. Its nice knowing I don't have to vendor anything anymore and if I need that one low level rune I have it saved now. Its also nice knowing that I am gathering and saving low level uniques to equip another character if I choose to start one. It does feel like I have a lot of freedom in the game again.
