Golemancers are dead

Golemancers are dead

Can anyone correct me on this?

Clay is a good tank and with passives he never dies, but he can't kill anything.

Blood is worthless since the removal of the IM trick.

Iron is a waste of time. My level 20+ with 20+ mastery needs AD to kill anything. Have to go to town to heal repeatedly if the group of monsters are anything tougher than Fallen and greater in number than 5.

Fire doesn't do enough damage to kill anything.

I think the only practical use for Golems now is to throw a point in Clay for bosses. Sad.

If anyone has a different experience, let me know.

Well, the Clay Golem is very useful in many situations, not just bosses--but, yeah, he can't kill anything himself, and there's no need for more than 1 point. As far as I can tell, the Golemancer is indeed dead. Even with all synergies maxed, no Golem is powerful enough to kill effectively in Hell.

I don't know, I think an IG with proper synergies might still be viable. Actually it might be worth checking out.... btw, IG ALWAYS need AD to kill effectively. Like it or not AD is probably the single most damaging skill in the game.

I usually use fire golem except when dealing with bosses.

1 point into him and 1 point into mastery. He dies, yeah, but not very often.

I use him with my skellimancer, as the monsters initially charge him and my skellies intercept and rip apart (my skellies are of course much faster than my golem).

I use him with a pvm bonamancer, to bring the heat toward him, my HF merc slows down the monsters so they don't get to him by the time I'm finished with my bone spears.

Not quite dead yet...

I decided a week ago to start a Golemmancer. He is indeed a challenge to play with BUT it is doable. First off you NEED a defiance Merc from Act 2. Then a good White, the one I have has +3 to IG. So 15 in clay, 14 in blood, 27 in IG and 9 in fire w/ 15 in GM. Then the curses just get prereq points and items boost the rest. Same goes for Bone except Bone Spear which gets pumped and let the synergies do the rest. Currently I am level 76 and have solo'd Hell and have killed Diablo w/ just Golems, Defiance Merc and me w/ Bone Spears flying out like mad. Granted it took a while and isn't a quick kill by any stretch of the imagination but it works. I am now starting Act 5 and will post my success or failure here. Wish me luck so far so good!

Darkseid

P.S. Other equip besides White are Shako, Trangs Belt and Gloves, Marrows, SoJ and Manald, Maras, CoH and Homunclus. So the skill boosts are nice. Merc is Lvl 81 w/ Tomb Reaver, Smoke and Gaze.

Welcome Newcomer to The Darkness. Grab a brew :drink: and feel free to raise some corpses.

Good Luck.

But you can't make a PURE Golemancer work.

There some truth there...back in 1.09 I used a Might merc with the best pike I could get my hands on. Along with a FG, and AMP/CE....it ruled....tho still does, esp with a few revives as a def. wall, for those who need more safty. But of course it get away from the "PURE" as Mantis said. Those are difficult to play, not to mention very slow.

But the FG/Merc is still awesome...just gotta use the CE skill every now and then for speed. Just start to look like Artymancers.

The way I do it is, I run my 2 baddies until me or the party start beggin for "necro, make revives!!"..fine, fine..."HERE THEY COME TO SAVE THE DAAAAAY!!"

Isn't that from Mighty Mouse?

I used to have a pure Golemancer. Just my Golems, a few curses and a Merc. He died when I installed 1.10. :hanky:
If you want to experience a fraction of how it used to be you can go hybrid. But the Golem is more for show than raw killing power.

Hmm, not sure about Mighty Mouse...but that movie with Jim Carry, Liar Liar, where he says "here she comes to wreck the daaay!" is what i was thinking of when I said it.:)
For some reason I see a Superman kinda guy saying that?

HoS
Well the cheese stands alone.

I've heard a way to get a good IG is to join a "Drop" game, even though I truly do not understand the theory of "Drop" games (even though I have seen them)

If someone could enlighten me on why "drop" games are created I would be vety vety happy, this is relevant to IGs, btw

*hm*

You -can- always try for an elementally immune Iron Golem...
4 Socket Pali shield w/ 4 Perf Diamonds over 100% Res..

Just leaves him to get hurt by Meleeers... His Thorns + Amp (does Lifetap work for him ?) should pick those off...

Just keep a TP handy for a trip to the Town Healer whenever he's about to die ;)

LT works for a Golem IIRC. But he does not attack often enough and does not do enough damage to heal himself.

Done..

Well I am have finished Act5. I ended up at lvl 82 once done. I can tell you that Golemmancer and a little bone is VERY viable still in 1.10. Although time consuming like I mentioned in a previous post it is still very gratifying. Now that I am done w/ this I am starting a new thread... Hope you're all there for some input cause I am gonna need it!

Thanks,

i tried a golemancer in 1.10....and my advice is....DON'T, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR SANITY...pure golemancers don't kill
the iron golem dies too fast and ur scrambling to get another item to make him b4 u die. just don't make one, not even if you are bored enuff to make a Valkyriezon...just dont make a golemancer.
