Golem mastery and iron golem

I recently started playing again and im currently playing with a fishy since its my favourite class.

I have maxed the essential skills and is thinking about what i should max next.

Im thinking of making a insight voulge Iron golem and are therefore wondering if you have to max Golem mastery if you don't want him to die or will he survive with 1 point +skills(currently around +9)

Heya,

Your Golem's life is based on Golem Mastery when it comes to the IG. Only the Clay gets the massive life gain from hard points in both him and the mastery. So if all you want him for is the insight, then Mastery is a smart idea. He will have only 600ish life in Hell with no points in mastery. With mastery, he will break 3k life. Again, that's with 20 mastery, 1 IG. So if you have +skills, around 10 points in Mastery wouldn't be a bad idea.

Since you're a fishy and pushing 20/20 skeletons, he will generally life anyways since everyone will want to attack your Skels first. Only something really ugly or some elemental damage will zap off your IG likely (or a boss).

If you don't want to keep losing your iron golem then invest more points into golem mastery. Maxing it is not a bad idea.
Also, iron golems sometimes disappear when they can't catch up with you, especially in dungeons. Have an item with tele charges (or enigma) at hand and teleport from time to time to bring your golem right back to his master.

To prevent your golem dying from iron maiden make it out of a low dmg polearm like a voulge as you suggested.

Thx for the input guys it was great. now i have maxed my golem mastery and are looking for a good voulge to roll a good lvl medititation insight with.
My Golem mastery is around 30-32 atm but will prob be higher when i find a good amu and some skiller. should i wait until then to make the golem or is the difference negligable?

the golem is remade at whatever level skill you have when you exit the game, so it won't matter. Just be sure before you exit to put on all your skill charms and skill items.

I've seen people pre-cast there iron golems once (with skill shrine) just to make em stronger untill he dies again >.>

It is remade whenever you join a game. Not when you exit.
