    Glossary?

Hello. Is there a D2 glossary around here anywhere?
I'd like to know what "slivering" means... among other things.

It's been a few years, I'm all kinds of rusty. D3 seems to have done great things for D2

    Re: Glossary?

I think "slivering" is mostly used in connection with Crushing Blow (CB) and Static Field (SF). These 2 effects will take a monster down to a "sliver" of life pretty quickly, but will not be able to kill it (taking a certain percentage of life every time).

A glossary of DII terms can be found here.

I heard about slivering only when talking abot MF.
"You will sliver the monster health to a tiny amount, then switch your main weapon slot to the secondary one with a lot of MF (Ali Baba + Rhyme) a deliver final hit"

Thanks! That does fit. I saw this term when looking through a CB heavy assassin build.

Also thanks for the glossary link.

FYI, slivering with static field only works in normal mode while it's capped in nightmare and hell - it will stop dealing damage once the life of the victim is down to 1/3 or 1/2 or less, respectively. In classic it works in all difficulty levels, however. One point in static field is a must for any sorc, except highly specialized PvP builds.
