Last night the message was "Updating forum tables, back up in a few minutes." Almost 24 hours later, it finally goes back up. I'm guessing they're still tweaking the forums to handle the amount of traffic it gets. Cheers!

I am just happy that the Squid did not EAT the forum again! Too many great posts that I have not read yet, not to mention a bunch of great guides that I should back up to my hard drive.

the squid strike did help me find some entertainment though. I tried to check the site maine page for info about the crash, but couldn't find it for a bit, so assuing i screwed something up in the name, i googled for it, and came across one remarkably similar, close enough that i wondered if it were a sister type site...definitely wasn't, was a dii site though (lots of the standard info from the Arreat Summit, but no real forums, communities), so i looked that the strat guides for pallys- very unmoderated, had a running post of tips that, well, were mostly from lvl 30-45 pallys, some of whom had only played a couple of weeks, almost all from 1.08/1.09.
The funniest one reminded me of the joke guide that durf posted a week or so ago, it also started with a reference to either being a newb that couldn't play, or just being lazy like the author (who was also quite a bit lazier than me about spelling and grammar)...and no guide is complete without a reference to HF making you feel like you're in the Matrix (everything moves so slow, of course).
oh my. I'd post the intro, but don't want to step on toes or mess with potentially copyrighted material.
anyway, crashes, squids and all, let's all remember that this is a very well-moderated and run site, and the next time someone posts a strat guide, or answers a skill q with more info than you immagined existed, be happy, be very happy...

Yeah, my life was definitely emptier while waiting nervously for SPF to return. I actually got work done, read slashdot, tested my home network's security multiple times. But i'm happy to trade all that for some quality time sunk into the SPF

I thought we were ready to have another forum crash again like the last one a few months ago. It seemed weird when all the text disappeared, but I could still see the text in the reply screen (somewhat).
I was beginning to wonder. Last night it said "Be right back" and then today it said "Still doing maintenance". That didn't appear to bode well for the boards. Happily, the squid chose not to feast on the forum this time.
Kudos to the sysads that got everything back online. I know from personal experience what a beast that job can be when your customers are waiting. :thumbsup:

At least we know that the Squid Bait I put across the hall *points away from the forums* is working. True, it didn't go for the bait right away, but it didn't eat the threads, now did it? :drool:
