Get sorb out!!

i am just can't stand that dueling in pvp you can't kill anyone if you an elemental caster

i'm just sick of the phrase "sorb time"

please take out sorb form diablo 2 or at least in d3

may be sorb could just work in pvm

what do you think guys?

Re: Get sorb out!!

Just find a decent dueling community. Or make a druid, or BvC. The best PvP builds are physical/magic damage anyway, sorb or not. Save for maybe fire and blizz sorcs, and maybe hybrid assassins.

Re: Get sorb out!!

Yeah absorb is kinda useless stat. They should balance the game in a way that you would only need resistances.

When LOD came, damages went sky high, I don't know why they did that.. why couldn't they just boost damage by 50% or something. If baba did 1000 ww damage he would now do 1500 with new gears. But he actually did 5000 or something IIRC.. nowadays a lot more i suppose. So they had to create DR% and absorbs% to balance the damage taken.

Re: Get sorb out!!

Let's get this clear,

You cannot nerf or remove a perfectly viable game feature for PvM for the sake of PvP. Diablo 2 isn't a PvP oriented game. What you are suggesting is the removal or castration of an item modifier that actually is very interesting to explore under PvM conditions and has often been explored on new and interesting character builds.

With each feature nerf or removal, one is just limiting further the game already limited options for character building. At most what you could ask was for elemental damage absorb to be nerfed under PvP conditions. But wouldn't that make sorcs move from uber PKers to Godly PKers? I think it would...

And here is some news... D3 will have a lot more focus on damage reduction as opposed to immunities. In this context, modifiers like 'damage reduce by', life leech, and damage absorb make all sense.

Id just like to see dot (damage over time) skills handled differently with absorb in PvP.DEven a newbie can be absorbing/reducing a dot skill to near negation and they just think your using a low damage skill.

There's a reason most of the elemental damange is done by range and why you can have the highest resistance vs. it.
Hint: Game balance.

Tbh I hated absorb in PvM too. made it too easy. With thundergods you could just stand in plains of despair hell and absorb some lightning from burning souls -> not fun.

Blizzard knows there are far too many imbalances and issues in D2, so you won't see the same mistakes in D3.

I think D2 was made in such a way that majority of the brainjuices were placed and concentrated on PvM rather than PvP.

joo crazy mang, absorbing all the lightning damage while the rest of your party gets owned is GREAT. makes u look even more powerful and adds humor to the game ;)

def agree with the elemental is least favored for pvp, u can easily hit some high resistance numbers and with a little absorb ur good to go. sorcs should just stick to mfing and other pvm activities.

so in short, keep absorb modifier in the game... not like every item has it, its quite uncommon a modifier ;)

I think absorb is quite unnecessary when there is already elemental resistences and "max resist up by X" modifiers.

Lets just hope that whatever was broken in D2 doesnt happen again in D3.
