Get my SAT scores tomorrow. Wish me luck guys!

Well, as some of you may know, the October SAT scores are coming out tomorrow at 8 A.M. I pray to God I do ok mainly for the fact that I really don't wish to take it again (Took 5 hours) and that my future college career sort of depends on it lol. A few questions I had btw for any of you that might know:

Do most colleges only look at your math and verbal scores and don't really take into account the writing portion? I really like writing and it's the one thing I like doing, but when only given 25 minutes for a stupid topic that frustrated me, I felt that I didn't do good on it because of the time situation.

Also, I was wondering what you guys thought of the SAT as a whole and how colleges view it. I personally think it's wrong to place such a heavy weight on a single test rather than 4 arduous years of high schools that may reflect something completely different than the test scores showed.

Well, I hope I get a good score guys and wish me luck! I probably won't be able to post it till late tomorrow because I'll get it at 8 and I'll be in class, and even though I can check it on the comp, Dii is blocked by the school :embarassed:

Wish me luck!

Shouldn't the luck have been wished on the day of taking it instead of the day of finding out the score?

You beat me to it.

And the SATs aren't that important to colleges. If anything, the PSAT is more important since you can get a ton of scholarship money if you are a National Merit Semi-Finalist/Finalist.

If you want a test that carries a ton of weight, check out the LSAT, MCAT or other professional school tests. Ack!

I remember waiting to take my SAT test, and the proctor was something like a half an hour late. Mucho Funno.
When I took it, the school that was doing it had some admin issues, and did some last minute shuffling on the day of the test. Therefore, we got to stand in the cold for an hour waiting. Only then did we get into a warm building, so we could wait another 45 minutes.

Mid-west colleges don't care about SATs. I've yet to see anyone else on this board talk about the ACTs though. Are there that few people taking it? I only took the ACTs.

I applied almost exclusively to midwest schools and didn't take the ACT.

I'm a senior and i'm getting my scores tomorrow as well.. nerve wrecking i know..

Colleges this year are still mostly looking at math and reading sections.. although some such as upenn do consider the writing as well.

Also, don't sweat about it that much. The sats are overrated anyways. If you did well in classes overall, you'll do fine. If you're a senior, just keep your first term grades up.

Thanks for all the support guys.

Oh, and I'm a junior btw lol, but I'm still keeping up high grades in all of my classes, although I'm worried abiut my schedule for next semester. Pre-calc Triganometry, AP US History, AP Chemistry, and English 3 Honors...boy is that going to be fun.

Yea but once you get in to college and all those classes are already taken care of, you'll be thanking yourself for it. Work your butt off early. I wish I would have done that. I'm on year 5 of my 4 year plan...with another year to go.
