    Gaming suggestion requested

Yo, I just purchased a PS2 and am looking for a solid rpg to jump into. Id like something similar to *the game that shall not be mentioned*. Ive already tried baldurs gate:deadly alliance (though I havent played the second one, any good?). Im looking for a game that takes lotsa time and effort, something to keep me going for a while and IT MUST BE ON PS2!!! Any suggestions?

Everyone always says to go for Final Fantasy X (and/or X2), I've never played them persay.
Since it's the only RPG i can think of for the PS2, I can only reccomend some good action/adventure/horror games

    Silent Hill 2
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

    ...nuff said.

Kingdom Hearts is pretty good (if you don't mind the Disney flavouring), although it's not that similar to the unmentionable game. It does have quite a neat (and simple) combat system, so might be worth looking at.

Fatal Frame 1 & 2. Great games, not RPG, but two of the best I have ever played.

Shadow Hearts is quite interesting, although I'd recommend playing the prequel Koudelka (a PS1 game, but obviously playable on PS2 also) first. Koudelka was gothic horror with an FF-style game engine. Shadow Hearts still has some horror elements, but a smoother engine, better looks, and much bigger game world. However much I like it though, it's not up to FFX's standard. FFX is stunning looking, decently sized, and has a great combat system.

Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is a very solid game. My friends and i are having a hell of a time playing it now.

I know you aksed for PS2, but whenever anyone asks for a cool rpg, I have to pimp Quest for the Crown. Its only the best online flash rpg ever.

Im already a pretty big fan of the MGS and SH series. I play those regularly. But those games are very linear, as in you have to work from point a to point b and you will get the same items every run around (with the exception of the extras after you beat the game). Im looking for a steady build up game type. Im gonna try out FF, any other suggestions?

If you want non-linear, the best games on PS2 would be Grand Theft Auto 3 and GTA Vice City. Apart from that, I didn't learn of too many games when I had my breif PS2 phase

I'm sorry, but I think you just have to play MGS Sons of Liberty...it's arguably the greatest game of all time on any console.

GTA Vice City is also godly

    Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

some people didn't like it, but I do, its very innovative

it isn't really similar to diablo in that, diablo isn't an rpg, but it has alot of action elements to it and you can probably find it used for $15

    Sorry.

This is a thread about game suggestions though. I suggest that anyone who likes the castlevania games purchase this game. It's hack and slash mostly, with fewer of the signature Castlevania RPG elements, but it's great fun, and visually stunning. All your favorite monsters rendered in 3D. The Boss battles were very fun, and again, visually appealling. I don't have much else to say without ruining the experience of the first 'next gen' castlevania game.

    I like it.
