Gambling?

Gambling?

A few quick questions on gambling.

1.) Where is the best place to gamble?
2.) Does character lvl matter? Will my 86 char be able to get the best stuff?
3.) Any other items I should gamble besides rings, ammy's, circlets?

1: Where you gamble has not effect on the result. I think the difficulty level matters though.

2: Character level does matter a whole lot. I would go as long as to say it is the defining factor in your gambling. This should not keep you from gambling at lower levels, but if you want something important always use your highest level characters.

3: Rings, amulets and circlets are arguably the most popular as they can get some pretty sick mods, but there are other things to gamble too.

Gloves can come with some pretty hefty resistances and neat stuff such as Increased Attack Speed, amazon or assassin skills or Magic Find.

Gambling weapons is another good alternative. Now that the top damage mods can appear on rares you can potentially get some pretty nasty things. A good blue Cruel <something> of Quickness or Cruel <something> of Evisceration is not a bad thing either.
Be sure to keep any one-handed weapons of Sounding. Barbarians love to have them on switch for Battle Orders.

Assassin claws are also nice as they can come with some helpful skill mods or just be helpful at lower levels.

The only thing not to gamble for in my opinion is armours. There are simply too many good unique or set armours to make it feasible and they are rather expensive to gamble too.

A NPC with a Gamble ability preferably, a casino won't get you any D2 items.

Yes, and your Clvl 86 char can get just about anything by gambling. The odds are much better at Clvl 95 or higher though. At Clvl 86 the Ilvl will only be high enough for +2 class skill once every 10 amulets.

Gambling Ilvl = Clvl -5 to +4, chosen at random per item

Gloves might be a good idea, as rare gloves can be rather nice and magic gloves van be used as crafting supplies.

Odds:
Unique: 1 : 2000
Set: 1 : 1000
Rare: 1 : 10
Magic: the rest

That page is horribly outdated, they even have the most basic gambling formula wrong.

Ignore the affix part, that's from version 1.06 or so.

The odds for unique/set are wrong, just like the odds for excep/elite.

Gambling in NM or hell doesn't give you a better chance for rares.

The list is wrong, as they didn't use the proper formula for that.

Exceps and elite won't appear until you have a Clvl high enough for one to appear.

Send this to the AS if you want.

1. Gamble in act 2, because you get a merchant discount for completing the Radament quest...combine that with a 15%merchant reduction Gheed's and you'll save a ton of money over the long run. :)
