Gambling Question

Now I have looked at various threads and the InDiablo website, but I am still confused. Maybe it is just bad luck but I have yet to find any ammy that has been +2 to all skills. I am level 90 with my gf/mf barb, and at InDiablo clvl for those prefixes says 90. But do I have to be above the clvl or can I be at the level required. Hopefully it I simply need to be at the level because doing more baal runs will be painful.

Thank you for the response.

Re: Gambling Question

Gambling level is within the range of -5 to +4 of your character level. So you have a 50% chance to not even being able to gamble your amulet, because the amulets you gamble are level85-89 half of the time.

On top of that, there's only a 50% chance that a magic amulet that you gamble will have a prefix (+2 skills are always prefixes). So now you're down to 1-in-4 amulets gambled has a chance at +2 skills.

And on top of that, there are many different prefixes (probably about 100*) - meaning from the 25% of the amulets you gamble that are eligible for +2 skills, your odds are pretty crappy of getting any specific prefix.

Rares happen roughly 10% of the time, so eliminating half of those because of the gambling level, you're down to 1-in-20 gambled amulets being rare and having a chance of a +2 skills prefix. You're able to have more than one prefix on a rare amulet, so that does improve your odds a little in that regard, but you're still affected by the large number of prefixes that can be selected...

*The estimate of the number of prefixes is somewhat imprecise, but it illustrates my point that it takes quite a bit of effort/luck to get something specific.

I have a level95 character for gambling (100% chance at level90+ gambles), and have spent hundreds of millions on gambled amulets. Although +2 skills aren't that rare for me, actually getting a "good" amulet with +2 skills is extremely rare. My rough guess is that for every 10-20 million spent on gambled amulets, I get one that I might actually use at some point. If I add the requirement of +2 skills on that guess, I'd be surprised if I get more than a single "usable" amulet for every 50 million gold I spend gambling.
