Funny quote from the Old Website, that I'd never seen before.

"Cheating

- Blizzard says it is committed to addressing the problem, and co-designer Eric Schaefer promises, "We will solve the cheating." Schaefer won't reveal details though, partly because the team is still working on solutions and partly because Blizzard doesn't want to give away its plans to prospective cheaters. On my visit to Blizzard back in May Bill Roper told me that a whole team of programmers had been employed with the express task of ensuring the code can not be hacked to make super-weapons and super-characters."

I actually have a lot of respect for blizz and understand (though am not intimately familiar with) the difficulties of keeping up with losers that spend all their time looking for loopholes in game code. I still found the quote somewhat amusing. Seems some people might have been a little naive once upon a time.

Just found it amusing, that's all. :)

That's why Maphack has been around as long as the game and nothing has ever happened to those who use it.

Two thumbs up, Blizzard! You're mediocre!

Will you people keep in mind this was about 7 years ago when Diablo2 was still making them money.

See, problem 1 is "with the express task of ensuring the code can not be hacked". No Company should ever say that, or anything that can be interpreted like that, The movie industry thought that css would never be broken, until a 14 year old proved them wrong. The CEO of Oracle clearly stated that the new version of oracle was "un-hackable" I think it might have taken a couple of days for someone to hack it. For most of the crackers, the reason for trying to find a loophole, is simply as an "in your face" to the company that proclaimed that their product "coulden't be hacked"
