Frostadin - What next ?

Frostadin - What next ?

Well - have maxed out Cold Resist and Holy Freeze and working on Salvation at the moment...

Was wondering where to go next... Zeal looks like an option... But had another idea too. How about Sanctuary ? It depends a bit on what type of monsters are likely to be Cold immune...
Another option might be a Blessed Hammer without all of the synergies...

Won't be going dual element, as this is one of three elemental paladins (others use fire and shock), so I don't want to get in their way.

Forget about BH w/o synergies. It will do next to no damage.

Sanctaury only works on the undead.

1. I maxed Zeal and Sacrifice for ED% and AR on my clvl 91 Frost Zealot.

2. You can Max Zeal and Holy Shield for a more defensive approach.

3. You can go the ranger route, and actually max Blessed Aim (passive AR boost) and either Fanaticism (for Cold + Physical) or Holy Shock (for cold + Lightning).

I know Sanctuary only works on Undead... but which are the monsters most likely to be be immune to cold ?

Probably not nearly all undead, with my luck

IMHO, You're better off getting a second damage type which is a little more reliable across undead/demon/animal monster types. Physical damage (Sacrifice + Zeal + Might merc) is always a reliable option.

It's up to you.

*hm* Would Vengeance or Charge work ? :)

Kinda hoping to steer away from the Zeal... since that's what the Tesladin will be using... It looks like the best option by far, I'll agree.

Vengeance would definitely benefit from both CR and Salv. In that case I would keep Vengeance below slvl 10 and pump the two other resist auras.

If I'm not mistaken, those resists also give a passive bonus to your max res, right ? So that would be a two-in-one.

Thanks for the feedback so far...

Lessee... 60 points spent on frostadin... 2 or so in requisites...
Leaves some 40 points... realistically speaking, I won't get at least the last 10-15...

So that gives me some 20+ points to use... (a few points for Holy Shield. With +skills, 3-5 should do for a fairly good duration)

5 in Vengeance, rest split equally along Res Fire/Res Light ? Or 10 in Veng, with the rest split equally ?

__

Out of curiosity... how would a charger work with a Frosty build ?

Just got lucky... Meph/Diablo/Baal run on Normal dropped Rusthandle... So now I'll get to try Vengeance for free. With +skills it's now @ 7.

Nice =]

I would not suggest going with a vengence pally as your alt build. I tried this approach and failed miserably.

Your best alternative is to get yourself a decent 1 hander with high damage (like a redeemer) and go with a spread of skills in fanat + Sacrafice + Holy Shield

with 40 points available I would go 10/20/10. 20 points in sacrafice because that adds considerably to your physical damage for leeching purposes and both of your main attacks would benifit from it.

Charge would be interesting. It is one of my personal favorite skills... and vigor is oh so useful. Ill have to do a damage analysis and get back here.

Must say that so far I'm enjoying the 'free' vengeance :) Of course, I'm not nearly anywhere near Hell =]

Am a bit hesitant about Sacrifice (largely due to Iron Maiden, I suppose...) - what is so good about damaging yourself ?

And the damage analysis would be much appreciated =]

with vengance you'd be doin tons of dmg and with it only at lvl 9 you get +100 to atk with the combo of that and what you've got ya'd prolly be damn near freezing everything solid. Thatd make Nihilak much easier. Stupid corpse explosion.... also a holy fire merc might be good jus to deal with those always fun immunes. I have a Holy shock/fire Avenger in hell and am constantly swapping to deal with them. Luckily vengence adds all three elements and my hirling has high phys dmg.

Sacrifice is just to give dat 12% ED/lvl synergy bonus to zeal. Can be an option, I'll be doing dat route.

Another option is to use Tiamat's Rebuke with Baranar's/Glimmershed for cold-immunes.

Also if you want more physcial damage, just switch to Might.

I think I got a Baranar's lying about... didn't socket it yet.

Haven't got a Tiamat... Baranar's probably would benefit from either Vengeance or Zeal most..

I think I'd like the Charge damage comparison before completely making up my mind though... would be nice to see what the results of that are.

why not try berserk (passion runeword) in some -10 weapon(scourge, caduceus etc) might work out pretty nicely, since you dont get hit much with the holy freeze on...
