Frost Zealot Equipment

Frost Zealot Equipment

I've read all the guides and posts about frost zealots, but I was simply wondering if whoever has a successful frost zealot (preferably a CB-using one) could post their equipment choices (whether it's rich or poor, as long as it was successful) and perhaps explain how good their damage, CB, skills, defense, AR, resistances, and PDR are... also let me know your merc, and his equipment... that'd be really useful too.

I've been creating one, but I just don't see how I'll get good AR without using angelics, BA, and more -% enemies defense (Eth) in a heavens light (which is probably going to be my weapon of choice.) But I'm definitly looking for all the input I can get...

Thanks in advance, guys... I just really need some ideas.

I'm making a frost zealot too... so far i'm using quite crappy stuff. The better stuff I use at the moment is Guillaume's face (great mods, you can throw an UM rune in it perhaps) I'm using guardians angel atm but when i get a UM rune i'll be making a duress archon. For the weapon is Heaven's light the best.. finally got one. I'll also be using gore riders when i get my hands on. At the moment i'm using a crappy shield... but anyone knows you should be using HoZ (not rich enough atm) For the belt and gloves i'll be using draculs and string or verdungo's (your choice) For the rings i'll be using a raven frost (for ar and dext) and if possible a dual leach, ar and resist ring. For the amulet i'm using highlords atm (got it for free) and for the charms it's just offensive skillers and a anni. Maybe some life sc.

Well how do i get my ar. I buy a wand with enchant.. easy to find and adds a little ar. Also I hire a act2 hell offensive merc with blessed aim... can add a couple of thousand ar :) that's what i'll be using when i'm rich enough

Do u play on europe or another realm by the way... would like to see him in action.

I play USEast SCL (as well as nonladder, but this new frosty is on ladder).

The equipment I was figuring to use looked something like this:

-Weapon: Heaven's Light (ShaelShael or ShaelEth... hoping for a +3/2)
-Armor: Duress (Archon/Dusk)
-Shield: HoZ (PDia/Um)
-Helm: Guillaumes Face (Um/IAS)
-Gloves: Dracul's
-Belt: Nosferatu’s/Verdungo's
-Boots: Gore Riders
-Ring 1: Raven Frost
-Ring 2: ?? (Will probably gamble one with resistances/nice stats, or will use another Ravens, Dwarf Star, Wisp, or ideally at some point, a Bul Kathos.)
-Amulet: Mara's (probably will end up being a +2 pally skills rare ammy with resistances/stat mods)
-Charms: Will be focusing mainly on +life and AR charms, also the occasional skiller, and hopefully an Annihilus at some point.

Most of this gear is ideal, though.

My skill layout will look something like this:

-Zeal - 20 (Max) <-- Only for AR purposes...
-Holy Freeze - 20 (Max)
-Resist Cold - 20 (Max)
-Salvation - 20 (Max)
-Holy Shield - Rest here

Stats will be enough Str/Dex for gear, base energy, and rest into vit, as with any build nowadays.

With this setup, I don't see any defense problems, if I get all my Ums, I'll probabaly be okay with resistances, damage should be good, CB is perfect (98%, 95% is cap), and I'd even have a good %chance for OW.

I just need to know if the IAS would be enough to reach a good FPS zeal, and if I'll have AR troubles if I add in an Act 2 hell BA merc... please let me know.

And keep the equipment choices coming, please... I'd still like to get new ideas if things are more efficient than my build idea!

One idea

Nightwing's Veil is nice for adding a ton of cold damage, but in my opinion the current setup you have is excellent. Usually the cold damage you achieve is enough to crush things with that much Crushing Blow. I wouldnt even worry about the Zeal speed that much. Enemies are so slowed that it barely makes a difference if its one frame.

Thanks for the input, Kitriara.

I'm throwing this up as a little bump to get a few more ideas from you people!

Perhaps just some posts about some of your frost zealots equipments?

Thanks again, in advance.

Here is my equipment:

Helm- Um Guillaumes
Armor- Um Guardian Angel
Boots- Goreriders
Weapon- Ber Astreons Iron ward--- that's 53%CB right there
Beltand Gloves -- Ik that gives 25ias and +50 to ar
Rings -- Rare dual leech with resists and Ravenfrost
Ammy-- Maras
Shield-- Um Hoz
Charms-- 8 Offensive Aura GCs -- These are easy to trade for.

Skills-

Maxed Zeal, Holy Freeze, Resist Cold, and Salvation

I have 5 points in holy shield and its 18 with skills
I have put a few into Sacrifice to boost Physical damage a little

This equipment gives you 103% CB and you take down the Dclone very quickly with this set up. I only used one healing potion while I was hitting him.

One more thing, Astreons also gives +4 Combat skills, This boosts your physical damage which is nice if you like a little more to take care of cold immunes.

Hope this helps you.

Heres mine (lvl 47)

Helm : Rockstopper (with a 30% poison res and 3-5 cold dam jewel, for the extra cold source )
Weapon : Zakarum's Hand
Armor : Goldskin wiht a +15 IAS jewel.
Shield : Rare protector (+1 pala skills and 30% res all)
Boots : Gore riders
Belt : string of ears
Gloves : Sanders
Amulet : +1 pala
Rings : Cathans + Rare +AR

Secondary weapon and shield:
Weapon : Crushflange
Shield : 4 socketed Perfect Diamond Protector.

I just found Zakarum's Hand, and I am having the same problem as with Coldkill.
Using 'Range 1' weapons can be a serious headache, when attacking Freezeslowed monsters.
A monster is moving slowly in any direction, and I attack the monster, but because the monster is so slow, I encounter it between 'two fields(software-spoken)'.
My Zeal attack ends with only one stroke, because I am out of range. This can go on forever, until I reposition myself, and get within the proper range.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem?

Thanks

I also have a frost zealot and am starting to put together equipment for him. I am very concerned about resist though. In an effort to max crushing blow, I think resist has been neglected. Here is the setup:

Stats:
Strength: 118
Dexterity: 114
Vitality: Rest
Energy: 15 (base)

Skills:
Resist Cold: 20
Salvation: 20
Holy Freeze: 20
Zeal: 20
Holy Shield: 10 (rest)

Equipment:
Heaven's Light
Guillaume's Face
Guardian Angel
Herald of Zakarum
Dracul's Grasp
Gore Rider
Verdungo's Hearty Cord
Mara's Kaleidoscope
Raven Frost
Dwarf Star

With this, I have:
+8 All Skills
+10 Combat Skills
83% Crushing Blow
30% Deadly Strike
35% Open Wounds

Switching out for Duress would lower max resists back to 75 (but I doubt I would be able to achieve 90 with this build anyway). I would lose a +1 to all skills; but crushing blow would go to 98% and open wounds would go to 68%.

*sigh*

duress is realy nice for this build. dont know if I'd go with any other armor. I've tried using both a heaven's light and a crecent moon phase blade. To tell you the truth I kill faster with the phase. its faster (life tap triggers more). Doesnt do as much damage but the static really whittles down the monsters and it ignores target defence which is really nice in hell where AR can be a problem.
