Frigid Highland/Arreat Plateau Help

In those areas there are lots of barricades and towers and catapults and annoying imps tele'ing around. It gets really dirty. The barricades have either really high physical resistance or really high health - it takes forever for a fishy's skellies to knock them down. Skeletons will wander around and randomly attack doors and the entire army is split up, with imps raining down fire from above.

I need some advice to beat those areas.

skip them. Find an ancients game and then move on to Baal.

If you don't like this idea, just run through them quickly, and stay on the bottom of the screen so you only need to open a few doors. If you can, use Dim Vision to blind monsters.

Well, sorry to tell you but this is pure disadvantage of commanding army of mindless undead creatures :)
Ok, note that these things have poor fire/lit resistances so I suggest TrangOuls set which gives you +18 FB just by obtaining 2 items......but I am not sure about the result cos I am not an expert on pathology :)

Buy yourself a teleport charged staff, put it on switch and use it to reposition your army or skip over the doors.

My standard route through all of the above-ground A5 areas is to hug the wall all the way, spamming DV, and stopping only for the necessary doors, Bosses, and Super Uniques and, when necessary, to clear any potentially dangerous situations. This is pretty much a "petal to the metal" sprint, with the most serious threat coming from Spearcats, because of their piercing attack. But liberal use of DV will shut them down without much problem. With any kind of decent fire res at all, the imps are just gnats swarming around making noise, and can be pretty much ignored as long as you keep moving.

Good luck!
