    fps just dropping :(

for the last 2 weeks i ahve been playing d2:lod on us east perfectly fine

Today when i logged on, i did a hell countess run, and i found a ko rune on the 4th level. when i got on the 5th level; my game froze.

I restarted my pc and loaded up a new game. i typed /fps: I had 300 FPS, 0 skip, and about a 60 ping. I moved my character to walk over to ashara to ressurect my merc; and immediately my FPS dropped from 300 to 5, my ping skyrocketed to 5000; and my game locked up.

Now it happens every single time i make a game on bnet. If i am idling in bnet, everything is fine; but when i make a game and start moving around in it, the FPS just drops.

    My CPU Specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3800+
    2GB Kingston HyperX (512x4)
80GB SATA HDD (where d2 is installed)
    ATI x800 XL.
    Windows x64 Bit Edition

I was playing in DirectDraw, but when this happened I switched over to DIrect3d, same problems.

Im clueless as to why this is happening, the only thing i can think of, I brkoe my LOD cd a while back and I have been playing with an image I made. why would it just stop working all of a sudden though?

edit: I tried running the game in Windows XP compatibility mode to no avail.

Are you having system lockups or powerdowns?

Could be viruses. They are nasty when it comes to network and video.

    Run safe-mode then use Ad-Aware/SpyBot/AVG/AntiVir

And go run>msconfig and then click startup and remove all the stuff unneccassary could be to much programs running at once on your pc.
