Alright guys - if you were playing DII, what would be the best music to listen to set the mood? Personally, being the classical buff that I am, I like Mussorgksi's "Night on Bald Mountain"

I think music would have to change with the character that you play, for instance I think that some intense orchestra music would be cool for a cold sorc, while something like Drowning Pools, "Let the bodys hit the floor" would be good for a Frenzy barb. Just my thoughts...

Techno, trance, rock, some rap, classical. Whatever's residing on my Winamp playlist at the time.

All music that is a mix between classical music and metal (Bal-Sagoth, Rhapsody, Nightwish etc). Black metal in general, trip hop (like Massive attack), soundtracks, classical music are all good choices too. But rap music? Noooo! :)

Best music (for me) while playing D2 is powernoize, definitely.

Nothing like getting amped up for an 8 player Baal run in Hell when Mutant Starseed Creation comes on when you hit the throne room. :D

Slash 'n Burn by Winterkälte is also awesome, but then again my blizz sorc is named xWinterkaltex so I'm somewhat biased hehe.

Honestly, IMO, the angrier & louder it is, the better. :)

Definitely the same, but I'd add some Rainbow and UFO as well. :p

I randomize my playlist of about 6000 songs and listen to whatever, unless it sucks, then I skip it.

... and Zappa, Pink Floyd. early Bowie, good Trance, Tenacious D.

Early Black Sabbath is hard to beat.

Ahh, and dare I say it here .... The Carpenters. Back off, hehe!

    Oh and another one...

Next time you find yourself in a full game walking to the throne room, play Ballroom Blitz. Seriously.. perfect song for that type of game. :p

That's fantastic, Ritchie Blackmore is my absolute idol. It's a shame he's off doing his rennaisance stuff now... But for the pure mysticism and gothic image conjuring, I can't beat Stranger and the first three Rainbow albums when playing Diablo II. Especially Rising! :) Dio's solo stuff is great for this as well.
