Yesterday LK gave me 2 vex runes so now I have enough to cube a Lo and make Fortitude for my Bowazon.
Now the problem is which armor to make it in.

I'm pretty sure I want to make it in an archon plate since def is too important for fortitude (+200% and chilling armor) to choose a low def armour like dusk. It might not be ultra important on a bowazon, but in the future i could be using it on a barb.

I have the following 2 candidates:

    - 5%ed/14%dur plain archon plate (will need a socket quest, dont have too many of those) - will give 1598 def fortitude
    - 4os 523def archon plate - will give 1569 def fortitude

So the superior one will give 29 more base def, but will require a socket quest (and expensive repair)

    Which one would you choose?

29 def is almost nothing.. but repair costs aren't as big a deal as I find people make them out to be.. you can also repair via the cube if you like

I would probably go with the plain one, in part to save precious socketing quests, but also in part because I have an irrational dislike of %dur superiors on most bases. (useless boon that does nothing but make the item more costly).

Pick the one that looks better on the amazon (and barbarian) in your opinion.

I'm not 100% sure how dex affects def rating, but as far as I have found it adds dex/4 in def. So is it correct that my dex will not affect the 29def difference - only the Chilling Armour which will add 115% @ lvl 15 giving a total of 62 extra def if i use the superior one?

I was just thinking on this (had a 4os Superior 528 def Dusk Shroud drop last night).

I decided that since Fort is pretty expensive to repair anyway, so I just use a ral if it's an issue. But like everyone says, that much def won't make much difference.

I hate the repair cost. Sorry.

SCrambling for a ral sucks, huge Find Gold+ and still not enough money, kills what I use the mod for.

I play US-West mostly though, not SP

I would wait for best Def normal A-Plate you can get and go.

I made it in the 523 def, non-superior archon plate and it has given my bowazon a real boost - she shreds pits and chaos now :)

Although, given the lack of new posts nowdays, this could've still been on the first couple pages. :(
