For The Love of Music!

I think some of us in here have some similar tastes in music, so I decided to take it upon us to share our musical tastes with those in the forum! This has probably been done before, so I don't expect it to last too long. I'll bring up a song for starters. I love music... good music. And a good song that comes to mind is:

Dashboard Confessional - Screaming Infidelities
Give it a listen, and I hope to get some good music recommendations!

ILLUMINATI
-- To the tune of "Eleanor Rigby"
11-07-**
Steve Jackson, Joe Vail, Creede Lambard

Illuminati...
They put a thing made of tinfoil on top of my door...
What is it for?
Illuminati...
Shooting a ray at my cornflakes to make them turn green...
What does it mean?
The Illuminati... They're watching me, I know.
The Illuminati... They're everywhere I go.

Illuminati...
Doing unspeakable things in the night to a cow...
Where are they now?
Illuminati...
Sent an impostor in place of the Popsicle man...
What is their plan?
The Illuminati... They're watching me, I know.
The Illuminati... They're everywhere I go.

Illuminati...
They cancelled Star Trek, The Fonz, and My Mother, the Car...
Are they bizarre?
You can't escape them;
Even if you take a plane to Nepal or Peru...
They'll be there, too...
The Illuminati... They're watching me, I know.
The Illuminati... They're everywhere I go.

I know that they know all about me...
They know that I know all about them...

Illuminati...
Hide their assassins' instructions in newspaper text...
Who will be next?
They're all around us...
Underline every third word in the Times and you'll see...
How can it be?
The Illuminati... They're watching me, I know.
The Illuminati... They're everywhere I go.

They're in the attic and the cellar...
Bigger than Hunt or Rockefeller...

Illuminati...
Go through my garbage and count all the pop bottles there...
Why do they care?
They're out to get me...
They're fluoridating my water from their UFO...
What do they know?
The Illuminati... They're everywhere, I see.
The Illuminati... And no one knows but me.

Eww I hate emo, but I won't critize your horrible taste in music =D.*

Alkaline Trio-We've Had Enough is a great song.

*NOTE:This was a joke so don't get sad.

Anything that is in the Genre of Vocal Trance or Progressive Trance is fine with me. Happy Hardcore and Euro Dance is fine too.

Depends on my mood. Most of the time I like hard rock (KoRn, Mudvayne, Static-X, SlipKnot, etc.), but I also like Punk (Green Day, Offspring, New Found Glory, Blink 182), Rap (not Hip-Hop, Rap) and recently I've taken a liking to some DJ-someone type music. I've been really into 80's music lately too. About the only music I don't particularly care for is Country, unless, of course, I'm drunk.

Am I allowed to like Classical music without being considered either old-fashioned or debonair and snobbish?

well I went rap/metal to rock to classic rock to classical to opera to jazz

so you're cool to like classical, you just can only make fun of other people who like classical because the classical they like you have judged to be inferior in comparison to the classical you like

I think my tastes are fairly common for a game-nerd in my age group: industrial, techno, metal, electronica, punk and "alternative" mostly, with a smattering of a few other genres (funk, classical, jazz, world music, rap). The only genres I really don't care for are Country, the Blues and certain mid-century styles like crooner stuff (Sinatra et al), Broadway musicals, etc.

As for more obscure stuff I like (in case anyone's looking for recommendations), there's The Bad Examples, which you probably haven't heard of if you're not from Chicago. They were ignored by the outside world for many years until they broke up recently. You may have heard one of their songs that was covered by Styx back when they were still big: Not Dead Yet. I consider Cheap Beer Night to be one of the best live albums ever.

Long ago, I dated a girl who once was a foreign exchange student in Yugoslavia back before the Cold War ended. Through her I became familiar with Ekatarina Velika. It's fairly decent if typical of experimental hard rock of the eighties. What I always found amusing about them is that I think they're the only Cold War-era rock band from behind the Iron Curtain that didn't completely suck. Their song Amerika has some of the best rock screams I've heard.
