FoH Paladins

Hi everyone!

I´m thinking about starting to play with a new Paladin for PvM.

I wonder if Fist of Heaven Paladins can work out well in hell?
If so, do you have any ideas on what skills to use and what mercenary to hire?

I thought that maxing out FoH and Conviction would be the first goal, but I don´t know what more I should do. Maybe Venegance would be a good compliment? I really don´t know. I would be really happy if you would help me.

Fist of the Heavens is a very poor monster skill in hell unless you are super-rich and can afford things like +6 FOH on your weapon alone and 10+ GSCs.
You can get by in parties OK, and of course monsters who aren't naturally immune to lightning are toast. But even groups of non-lightning immunes can be a problem.
Forget Vengance, you need to max Holy Shock to get the Fist synergy. This is a build that is basically done in 60 skill points, that's one of the few nice things about it.

Even with super gear FOH is not a good monster killer.

Problem is you might hit ONE monster hard...but then you have to wait for the timer to reset (1 sec I think) before being able to use FOH again. And meanwhile you'll be swarmed...

I can be an OK boss killer however and sorcs in your party will love your conviction :D

Since FoH doesn´t seem to be a very good build after all, are Hammerdins still good in hell? And is there any way to have resistences against magical damage?

Well FOH can be a good build - it's just more PvP oriented....

Hammerdins are very powerfull (check the stickied guide) for both monsters and players.

There is 1 monster (wailing beast in hell act III - temples) that the hammers won't harm but thats hardly a problem (a merc is enough to handle those).

Im pleased to be of help :)

For a hammardin I would recommend a holy freeze merc (Act II defensive hired in nightmare).

The holy freeze slows down monsters which adds protection. Another option would be defiance (Act II defensive hired in normal) but in my opinion holy freeze is better for a hammerdin.

Personally, i'd recommend the defiance merc.......I have a lv 95 HCL pally with a defiance merc and my defense is 21K......slow is nice but not needed for hammerdins since just destroy everything, and quick too.

Shall I totaly forget about Thorns Aura then?
And do you know what level I shall be in when I reach act 2 Nightmare in order to be able to hire a mercenary in a level close to my own level?
