    Flying Cockroaches?!?!?!?!

Well, I was in Sri-Lanka, my "home town," and I was walking down in a mall, and decided to go to the washroom, and there it was, a huge (all most as big as a cell phone) ugly roach. But no worries, I gave it a good stomp... but it didn't die. It ran towards me and crawled up my shoe and went into my pants rapidly (for it's size). I was yelling and trying to shake it out and for my luck it fell out. So in my disgust and anger, I gave it another stomp. It layed there for about twenty seconds and then flew... yes a giant flying roach. I thought I was hallucinating. I never knew or even imagined that roaches flew, and the speed was just amazing. It flew away from two stomps but it probably lost half it's insides as there was a heap of mush and fluids left on the floor. When I went to tell my friends, they didn't believe me. This must me a tropical asian roach with "wings" or can all roaches fly? I never saw a roach fly in Canada. Or am I just to stupid to realize that all roaches can fly? Man this is scary and confusing.

I was probably a big wood roach and not a cockroach. Big nasty things they are, a kid ate one at camp a few years ago. . .he wasn't really that bright.

My father told me he knew a guy that was eating all the mushrooms he see. I guess those are the same type of people. He also told me the guy died from mushrooms

Wow ate one? I can't even look at one without craping all over my pants.

I hear they say that roaches can survive a nuclear war, and after my experience with one, I can start to believe it.

    Just Scary

We used to have them all the time back in Western Australia. They're huge, disgusting, completely indestructible and to top it all off they can fly.

I once threw a thong (flip-flop) at one, stomped on it, jumped up and down on it, then lifted the thong... and it sped off like nothing had happened. They're invincible. *Shudder*

So glad I live in cold crappy Melbourne now...

Contrary to popular belief, cockroaches cannot survive nuclear explosions. So there's your answer. Tactical nuclear strike FTW.

    Creepy. 1111st post.

It'd be so fun to squash those though. Have giant roach-hammers, comically huge mallets to just swing & skwoosh. It'd prolly hafta be really heavy though... kinda like playing whack-a-mole with an oversized hammer.

Most roaches have wings, but not all can fly.

They're supposed to be able to survive a nuclear holocaust, not a nuclear explosion. The aftermath, not the bomb itself. Although I can see where people would get that impression, they're damn tough little bastards.

Ew, they're so gross when you squish them.

I really haven't had to deal with cockroaches much, but I've been finding these bugs in my dorm/suite/apartment that are slightly bigger than the average cockroach, but don't have the little antennae and nearly jet black. Creepy little buggers, and they play dead when you throw them into the toilet, and start moving around again when you turn around.

You throw them in the toilet and then turn around without flushing... what are you planning to do, **** on them? That seems a little excessive. They'd probably like it anyway...

It'd make such a satisfying splat + stain wherever you whacked them though. Just use a paintscraper + a hose to clean off your mallet. It'd be so entertaining to see someone struggling to lift a massive hammer and then wailing onto a fat roach with it.

it would be more entertaining to see that roach chase the guy with the mallet

seriously though, stomping one on your heel should kill it

maybe you all don't weight much, but i think i could give it a good stomping : )

but from your tale, i wouldn't want to have to clean my shoe afterward

the only bug i was unable to kill i found on a beach... i swear it was a whole busload of kids chasing it down boardwalk.... all the stomping we did never killed it.... we even tryed two kids stoping at the same time, after a while we kinda got worried and left it alone, as it was nearly impossible to destroy apparently
