Overview:

Amazon Gets her super strong Valk with 5520-6624 life and +440% defense. Her Decoy could possibly have a lot of life, but not that much for the super strong people.

The Assasin has her claws that will block all types of damage (fire, lightning, cold, poison, physical, and magical). However they only peak at 63% chance. Then again you only have to be around level 40ish to be great.

The Necromancer has a very strong Blood Golem which steals life for it and the user. The Blood Golem goes with 5,733 life and 146% life leech. The Necromancer gets to use the marrowalk bug which can help his bone armor (absorbing a nice 850 damage). An added bonus is that he can also keep creating bone walls/bone prisons for more targets on a Lightning Fury Amazon.

The Barbarian obviously has the added advantage of gaining so much life every level. He also boosts his own defense an insanely 1,350% (ex: start with 750 and end with 67,914). Also he gets some more life too (ex- carrying 10 small charms of vita (200) turns into 304 life).

Paladins have a double advantage of being able to regain life at a very hefty speed (92 every 2 sec.) or having extra defense (+460%). If you go the Defense route you can have a grand 1,310%

Sorceress have the ability to convert 95% damage into mana and take only 5% of the damage (C-Razy!). And they only have to be level 49 for it to take place! They also get 279% defense from a shiver armor.

A druid that turns itself into a werebear can easily get enough life to just stand there (from 400 to 1,920!) and also have extra defense (from 750 to 1,462.5). A good choice for a person who wants to level only to 49.

The druid summoner may have a very high level but it comes at a good price. Being able to have a Grizzly with 17,187.5 – 23,437.5 life! And with the 490% extra defense (750 turns into 3,675) the Grizzly could possibly tank all day.

bait for what? just to see who would last the longest in front of a mob, or is this for MP play, and you want a 'scout' to draw out monsters?

Best tank build: a combination of the two Druids.

Druid Werebear/Summoner:

Max WB
Max Lyc
Max OS
Max Dire Wolves
Max Grizzly

Should just be possible although the cost is that you have no attack skills. So now you're stuck.

If it's for solo play you may have trouble just clawing away with Attack, but WBs have a damage bonus too, IIRC.

just one thing you forgot, druid also can have a carrion vine, makin you get 6-8% (lvl of doesen't change much, so were sayin 7%) life from each corpse it consumes... wich if you fight something 1k life still gets a bit of life.

you want touse a lvl 99 character just to hold up some monsters for a bit longer??
of them id go for your barb, he looks very strong in melee.

actually i sometimes play using the ip address thing for both of my computers, and i didn't know whether that was still single player (using characters i have on it) or multiplayer (cuz theres two of em) so i decided i'd put the poll in two places (single and general).

And yes, this is just for taking damage on one computer while the other computer i use to attack

Just pure, getting hit

Why not use a Paladin with the Thorns aura, then? That way the "meatwall" character would at least be doing SOME damage to the monsters. Alternatively use Redemption as a main aura--that way any monsters killed by the non-tanking character will be Redeemed to help top up the life of the tank, keeping him alive longer.

The only downside with using the thorns aura is that a paladin tends to have high defense and high block. Since thorns depends on actually being hit, that makes it more or less useless.

yea, it woudl be better to have a aura that woudl benefit the active player, then they can have 2. HF and might maybe, depends on characters though.

that's a good idea, i might be able to stack to of a characters auras (holy fire and holy lightning?)

and with the mercs. . . oh the possibilites

good info on thorns/hf
