Fix this assa or do a new one?

So, generally i've got this problem, that I don't know wheter my assa has a future or not. I'm quite noob to Diablo 2, so I need your advice.

This is a claw/claw assasin.
My skills are:

20 TS
20 DTail
10 Claw Mastery
5 Weapon Block
6 Phoenix Strike
1 BoS
1 Dflight

And im on lvl 65. The problem is, that i get killed on Nightmare so often, that it becomes quite frustrating. With TS and Dtail i get 4-6k dmg (3 orbs of TS), but it also seems to be quite low... As for the equipment, i have pure crap, cos this is my first character. Is there anything that could be done to make this char rock? A skill that could help me? Or should I make some other assasin (but please, not Trapsin:p)? My goal is to have a balanced character so i could kill Meph and get some good items..

put a point in cloak of shadows for crowd control & to certain extent, better hitting.
and since you're using dtail, ensure that you're using exceptional boots such as war boots, battle boots etc to boost your splash damage

Just curious, you on East / West / Ladder etc? (I have a crapload of decent Sin gear that I'll never use and unlikely bother trading that may be of use to you, at least to help you get on your feet- Free of course to an extent :p)

And while its still fixable, 6 points into Pheonix Strike is kinda a waste if your not going to buff it up. In hell, it will be nearly useless due to its low damage :(

Well actually i wanted to max it because of freezing. Should I make it 20?

And i'm Ladder on Europe.

If you aren't going to max at least one synergy for Phoenix Strike, There isn't much point in maxing it for damage. As it is, The freezing will work the same as it would at lvl 20. Other than that, it's not like a couple wayward points in Phoenix will ruin your entire char.

Btw what claws are you using?

Mhm, then maybe I'll max phoenix + lightning. But tell me: does TS affect lightning dmg? Like, let's say i have 1-1000 with 3 orbs, so with TS i have 15-15000 ?

As for the claws, i use yellow crap without any +skills... I'm not sure if they give me res either.

TS only directly affects physical damage. DTail fire damage is calculated from the kick's physical damage, so it is indirectly affected as well.

Put one point into Cobra Strike, and make a habit out of charging both CS and TS. A fully charged CS/TS/DTail will often completely refill your health and mana.

Boots are very, very important for a TS/DTailer. Always strive to get the most damaging ones available, and forget about their mods.

Aside from boots, you'll want to be looking for +skills, resists and attack rating. Cannot be frozen is also immensely helpful, but is a bit harder to get untwinked.

You could look into the Fade skill to help out with resists, but in your case that might be spreading the skillpoints a little thin. If you have the patience for a few dozen countess runs, you might want to look into the Treachery or Smoke runewords. If you do decide to use fade instead of BoS you'll probably want a little IAS and FRW from gear though.
