Fishy Question

I know that your character level plays a big part to your chance to hit, but I was wondering if it affected your minions' chance to hit.

Re: Fishy Question

The AR of your minions goes up as your level increases.
That answers something that has been nagging me for a while. It seemed that the army as a whole killed faster as I went up in levels, even though I could not put any more points into anything that would increase either their attack speed or their damage output per attack. So I figured it must be just my own wishful thinking.

But the minions' AR increasing would explain that. Thanks.

I think also (someone please correct me if I am wrong) the invisable lvl penalty applies. When you are say a melee character even with great AR, if a monster is a significant number of lvls above you, you will still have a hard time hitting that monster.

Someone told me that was because there is some kind of chance to hit penalty based on lvl as well as AR. I would imagine that this penalty (if it really exists) is applied to skellies as well.

Yes, it's something to do with your level (or merc level) vs monster levels. I don't remember the equation, but I have seen it before, and I know these are factored into calculations for chance to hit. I think usually the sweet spot is to be within 5 levels of the area/monsters you are running, so you have a good chance to hit or your minions/merc will.

It's often a problem with people trying to run bosses or areas that they're not quite ready for yet, such as taking on Hell bosses, Pit, or Worldstone Keep/Baal's buddies. They may miss often if they are melee characters, notice Mercs not leeching well and dying often (I've seen this question come up a ton in the Sorc forum), or minions just not performing up to par (why are my skellies so useless in Hell? type of questions).
