Fishy dkey farming

I was wondering if it was possible/efficient for a fishymancer farm dkeys, and if there was any sort of trick to accomplish it. With the large number of mobs surrounding Nihlathak I'd assume CE would make short work of him, but the vipers basically oneshot my merc.

So, possible without teleport or should I stick to more necro-friendly runs (pits, tombs etc) until I can afford an enigma?

Nevermind, I read some of the guides on the forums and hopefully that will give me a good headstart.

i farm dkeys with my fishymancer, and enigma is pretty much a requirement unless you want to walk for experience.

you could also try using tele charges on Naj's staff (comes with 69 charges) or on a amulet or something, but usually amulets come with fewer charges .. 25 or so.

when i'm tele'ing down there, i use Wizspike for fcr and resists as well.

the merc dying is definately an issue, but so long as he gets one kill for you, you can spam CE and re-raise any skellies you lose.

good luck! i've got a mule full of Dkeys to show it works, but i've been on an unlucky streak lately .. 50 runs with only 1 key. ;/

keep teleporting if vipers are around so your army (and your merc) will not walk through the poison clouds. Nihlatak himself is not difficult: you just need to be faster with exploding corpses than he is.

Thanks, I just got a Naj's staff and a glads bane for my merc so tonight I'll probably try it out again, hopefully I'll be able to get it down. I was originally hesitant to try since it would mean losing easy access to pindleskin, but pindle rarely drops anything for me anyway so I'm sure the dkeys will more than make up for the loss.

The red portal will remain open if you do not activate the wp in the halls op pain. Of course, without wp it's a longer way to Nihl.

Pindleskin's drops are OK, but it's easier to build wealth with a quick-teleporting Fishymancer as a DKey runner. I'm averaging DKeys about 1 every 20 runs or so (have had up to 3 drop at a time!), and have never had that kind of luck with Pindleskin.

Use another character (Meteorb/Blizzballer, etc.) for Pindle runs; use the Fishy for DKeys.

Nature's Peace is a GREAT asset; keeps Nihlathak from using his CE on you, and your mob will own his; you can tele straight past all the Tomb Vipers and right into his face without fear.

I do what Bruticus does...slap on a wiz spike for resists and faster cast, teleport to him and as soon as the first corpse drops, start exploding them faster than he can. I dont even see Nihlithik on my screen, I stay out of range and kill him with CE.

I killed Nihl yesterday for the very first time in HC with my Fishy. I had been avoiding it because of all the horror stories about the Tomb Vipers' poison clouds, but decided that I could keep my head well enough not to move when inside a poison cloud. I guess I got lucky because I never saw a Tomb Viper.

All-in-all, I was a bit surprised by how easyily Nihl went down. I started spamming CE as soon as the first boar monster dropped, and it was over before I knew it.

So yes, Dkey running with a Fishy is definitely doable.
