First drops

I've heard that when you kill a boss for the first time, you get better drops. Now how does this work?

a) If you create game with a char that hasnt gotten meph quest before, do you get better drops when you kill meph with your mf char? (not the char that created game)

b) does mf affect here?

c) If i create game with my mf char, does a person that doesnt have meph quest get "first drops" from meph if he kills it in my game?

a) No. You only get a quest drop if the boss killer himself hasn't solved the quest yet. That means the only possibility to get quest drops all the time without losing it could be that somebody who already solved the quest creates the game, so the quest cannot be solved in that game, and the other one makes the kill, not losing the quest. However, I'm not sure if you will get a quest drop in that case. I heard different stories about that.

c) That's basically what I'm not sure about in a).

Quest drops consists of set items, rares and uniques exclusively. The only exception is that a set item is to be generated, but there is not set item of that particular kind. In that case, a so-called failed set item is generated which is a magical item with double durability. That means if you kill an act boss a few items and all magical items have double durability (ignore missile weapons, as they effectively don't have durability), you probably get quest drops all the time.

Even if it works, it needs too much time IMO and it's too annoying to go boss killing that way. In addition, if you do that e.g. with Meph, your character will never be able to visit act 4 or 5.
