First Character, first PAT!!!!! (LONG)

Well, my first character, a Conan the Barbarian (yes, I have no imagination at all!!!) made Barb. After finding D2 last august, I almost quit playing until I found SPF and then ATMA. I was in late NM and doing very poorly. I had very poor skill pt distribution, no clue as to what to do, etc. Well this place renewed my interest. My build is TOTALLY dependant on gear, most of which I got in giveaway contests, trades, and giveaways here. Thanks you all ery much :thumbsup:

Nikstone especially helped a lot, and he actually said he doubted if I would Pat him with what I had been doing. Here is the build, with gear:

Gear, not including charms, etc:

Terrible build, and totally gear dependant. As I started playing, I basically put points in here and there thinking I should be able to do most every skill. In the end Iwould do BO then switch to War Cry when I got monsters nearby. I would Weapon Switch to use the weaken if I saw a crowd gathering. I did lots of running away when I saw several monsters so I could take on a few at a time.

Hell Ancient took about 5 deaths, Baal none. Merc had to be resurrected several times throughout though.

I want to thank all those who have had giveaways, contests for gear, and given advice, as I know I never would have Pat'd him without all the help. Now that I have done that, I need to see if I will keep feeding the D2 addiction and make more builds, or go on to something else. For now, its time for many drinks at the EMB, and I am buying! :buddies: :drink:

That reminds me of my first builds (Skill points all over the place). Now that I come to think of it, what's so cool about Frost Nova??

Nice work! My 1.09 assassin looked about the same when i matted her in 1.10, so i know the amazing work that it took to bring this guy through. congrats! a :drink: on me. :)

Sweet gear aswell, but the stats/skills is another story. Actually, it would take a lot more skill to beat the game with a build like this, so have another beer :)

congrats on the pat, i know how hard it is to do stuff with a char like that

wow... this is a major.. major.. flashback to my first character like 3 1/2 years ago. a paladin with : equal stat distribution, worked proportionatly off of what they started at, at least 1 point in every skill, max zeal, like 13 thorns, 7 conversion, 4 FoH, you know, the good stuff.... i somehow managed to get to like act3 hell, at mephisto, before i just plain gave up..

he was wearing a friggin bloodcrescant scimitar, and any item i ever found that had any mf at all. so godly... i miss him :( :( :( :(

Very impressive feat! Most of us, I think, gave up on our first character because of skill point mistakes like that, so it's really cool to see that you had the perserverence to keep going and succeed anyway with him. Have several :drink:s on me.

And thanks, 'cuz I now know that my first barb may yet pat. His build may be even more twisted than yours, so it'll take some work. Maybe I can use what I learn in my HC chars and actually play him (instead of just running around whacking things).

Congratulations on the Barb pat! I have an old 1.09 barb who can't kill in 1.10 hell. I may use some of the good hgear I have now to see of I can pat him. Melee characters rule! Especially barbs.

Your story gives me hope about the status of barbs around here. It seems like most of the pat/mat threads are for "non-melee" characters.
